Scott Spiezio. My wife thought his red soul patch was the coolest thing. It was during her first introduction to Cards baseball and he was on a good stretch and she thought he was the star of the team Lol!
Other great choices…Pendleton, Tewksbury, and the So Man!

Who is your favorite non star, scrub, bench guy, forgotten number 5 pitcher in Cardinals history?
Mine is Felix Jose. At the time we had a foreign exchange student from Honduras living with us. She thought Jose was cute so she had his cards and a poster in her room, so as a family we cheered for him
Nice discussion. Gregg Jefferies, Brian Jordan, Allen Craig before he fell off a cliff.

I made it a point to answer this question without looking at others' answers...
1. Bob Tewksbury
2. Bernard Gilkey
3. Pags
4. So Taguchi (he maybe #1 for me).
5. Pedro Guerrero
6. Gregg Jefferies.
I probably have more...
Those are some good ones!

Someone said Tommy Herr. That is mine.
Since there is no defined criteria for star, Herr was an all-star and would not qualify with stricter limits. Favorite Cardinals bit/role player of all-time? Rex Hudler immediately comes to mind.
Lastly, my favorite non-star Cardinal for a singular event is clearly Glenn Brummer.

So Taguchi and Jose Oquendo are the first names that come to mind. Although you could argue that Oquendo is a star around here. Maybe Tommy Edman for a more current player.

Can I still pick Bob Uecker (R.I.P.), as my second choice, even if I never saw him play as a Cardinal?

Kenny Oberkfell, who went to Collinsville High School, about 15 miles from my hometown. He was undrafted out of high school and went to Belleville Area College(now SWIC) where he hit .400 in the spring of 1975 and was named to the first-team squad of the NJCAA All-America team. On May 4, 1975 – his 19th birthday – Oberkfell signed with the Cardinals as an amateur free agent about 48 hours after his final game with Belleville Area College.
Good choice. Herzog once said Oberkfell was a player who didn't need coached.
But he attended Highland High School. And played college baseball at the University of Southern California (USC).
Are we talking about the same player?

Not sure where that site got their info but according to baseball reference Oberkfell went to Collinsville High and BAC/SWIC
https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... ke01.shtml
I got some incorrect information.
