I could see Yadi being his pitching coach or possibly the bench coach. In the past Pujols said Yadi is" like my little brother". I can only imagine the PR hit the Cardinals will take if both of these guys end up in Anaheim while we are stuck with Oli.
I do think it is possible that Molina will be offered a manager's job this year so he might not be with Pujols.
Will St. Louis go crazy if Yadi joins Pujols in Anaheim?

When they finally kick Oli to the curb I want them to hire a manager that has never been tainted by this organization. Someone from completely out of the loop we can bring in outside perspective.
The Cardinal Way via Kissell has gone astray and I'm sick of hearing about it

Seems at least one on CT is already with this hypothetical.
I don't get worked up over it.

I don't get worked up over it.
It’s an opportunity to join a major league staff…..work with his good friend…
and, by the way, it’s in Orange County..
I poke fun at the guy a lot….but if this works out…I wish him well…

Yeah I started at Pruitt-Igoe, up in the building smoking PCP with my Red T-shirt/jersey onRamFan08NY wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025 22:27 pmDid you start liking the Cardinals because of Red Shoendienst?
Re: Will St. Louis go crazy if Yadi joins Pujols in Anaheim?
More curious than anything. I don't see anything in their past that ensures they will be great managers, but I can't prove that they will be horrible either. Only a few true superstars (Ted Williams comes to mind) have become managers, so the sample size doesn't tell us much. Most all time great managers were marginal players. Billy Martin, Gil Hodges, Don Mattingly, and Ryan Sandberg among others were good to very good players and decent managers. Red was a HOF player and a successful manager when he had good rosters.

Re: Will St. Louis go crazy if Yadi joins Pujols in Anaheim?
It seems like most people don't think a Manager has a significant impact on the overall W/L record year-to-year. Working from that perspective, the Cardinals need a huge PR win to gain back attention of the fans, and it's not coming from acquiring major talent. Hiring Pujols as Manager would have done just that. Add Molina, and it would have bought the Cardinals at least a year. I'd bet their attendance would increase 20% or more in 2026. Yes, that's clearly an anecdotal number. Instead, they're keeping Oli, who has no real hardcore supporters outside the organization, in the seat. I'm pretty neutral on Oli, but if there was a real opp to make Pujols the next Manager, I'd say Bloom is off to a bad start. There is literally zero reason to keep Oli over Pujols. Now, if the Cardinals had a manager with some proven track record, like Francona, then sure, pass on the opp. They don't.
Bloom's tenure is starting behind the 8-ball, if indeed, Pujols was an option.

One thing to consider is whether Pujols can get on the same page as a front office, and what they're focused on from an analytic perspective. However we know that the Angels are not among the most cutting edge programs. It may be the right spot. Doesn't mean the team will be successful.
