Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
While the Cardinals have faced criticism for their prospect development, the current crop shows promise. If nurtured well, players like Mathews and Hence could become impact arms in the majors, and Wetherholt could be a reliable everyday infielder.

Hope you are right, but very doubtful. And what is he going to be able to trade for with what he can move. He has garbage to work with.ramfandan wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 13:17 pm By spring training, the Cardinals will look much different than the end of 2025. Think those looking for minor moves here still have Mo on their brain. New sheriff in town and he will do things his way . Buckle up ! You may or may not like the moves but they are coming in the next four months . Enjoy !
Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
I want to see him laser-focused on 2 areas in particular -- starting pitchers who can rack up Ks. And some hitters who can rack up HRs, unlike Noot, Walker and Arenado.
Secondarily, this team needs more speed and more IQ and aggression on the bases. Station to station baseball ain't cutting it. And stupid base running with what they have ain't cutting it. Runners failing to read hits to the OF, not tagging up when needed, and running into sure outs.

I bet we win LESS games next year
Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
Not basing my comments on hope. Using his previous tenures with Tampa and Boston . In his 4 years with Boston, Bloom made 33 player-for- player deals, signed 31 major league free agents and completed dozens of cash deals, waiver signings, and minor league signings.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 14:28 pmBelieve it when I see it...ramfandan wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 13:17 pm By spring training, the Cardinals will look much different than the end of 2025. Don't get your hopes up
The guy has not been afraid to wheel and deal in the past. So see no change in that here.

Man, I sure as hell hope so. No more offseasons adding a #5 starter, a utility man, and a couple of depth bullpen pitchers.ramfandan wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 13:17 pm By spring training, the Cardinals will look much different than the end of 2025. Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
I still believe Bloom was brought in to enhance the selling of the Cardinals. They are absolute in clearing out long term expensive contracts and not replacing them. And this is silly, Bloom has been running the show.
Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
I have my fingers crossed for the lineup(comments barring players dealt of course):
Solid- Contreras, Winn, Donovan
On the uptick(Can they continue?)- Burleson, Herrera
Super excited- Wetherholt
High Anticipation- Three young Catching prospects
Too soon to tell- Scott, Saggese
Running out of time?- Gorman, Walker
Likely Gone?- Arenado
50/50 Gone?- Noot
Hanging Around?- Pages, Pozo
I’m not anywhere near as knowledgeable of the System as others(Duce, etc) but the guy I’m hopeful about for late 2026 is Joshua Baez.
That being said the rotation is the key. If Gray is dealt you have Libby & McGreevy.
After that???
Pallante who knows?
Leahy gets a shot?
I can’t see them spending big on a FA starter.
So....you either wait and roll with guys coming up like Mathews, Henderson, then Doyle, etc or?
Sign a back end vet starter at lower cost? Or?
Swing a major trade?
Who they deal from the lineup will be interesting.

Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
Bloom's strategy is going to take a long time. Very little of that MLB roster vision will show up in 2026. 2027 may be a lost season. Think 2028.HorseTrader wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 15:46 pmpotential to hit 30+ MLB HRs and couple TOR starters What is he going to use to get those? Noot? Gorman? Gray/Arenado/Willie? You will have to start with Donovan, Winn, Ivan, JJ and then add others. Cash on the free agent market for the TOR? Well that could work but not in 2026. The Cards won't (and shouldn't) lay for large contracts until the new CBA is in place.BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 14:39 pmI'm sure Bloom wants to turn over a big chunk of the MLB roster. Chaim is looking for two or three prospects who have the potential to hit 30+ MLB HRs. He is also looking for a couple TOR starters. These AAAA players that Milk Toast Mediocre Mo has been falling in love with have to go.ramfandan wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 13:17 pm By spring training, the Cardinals will look much different than the end of 2025. The big question for me is how much does Bloom want to disrespect the previous regime. Usually, these guys don't want to poke their predecessor or the owner in the eye.
I agree there will be a lot of turn over but this winter it's more likely to be Arenado plus cash for a gamble on a wildcard low level prospect. Noot for a mid level prospect. Or maybe a one year deal on a Zack Littell type, I actually doubt he would do one year.
Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
He’s more of a builder and not a remodeler. He will trade to get prospects but not totally remake the roster. He will build it up with the draft, international signings. Look for trades involving comp picks and international money also.

Re: Bloom will clean house ..buckle up boys !
Some good points ! Indications sure seems like he will dump the high price vets who even if they stayed would not be around once the 'new building ' is erected. So he will move them out now so younger cheaper guys can play in those spots.

One area that hope changes is the international signings. Instead of signing 5,000 guys hoping one works out, go for the big guys. Spend it all on 1-3 top players.

Thought I would update this thread
with this article today by Lynn Worthy
article title Chaim Bloom is ready to shake things up , puts Cardinal officials on notice
Bloom will be taking the bull by the horns as I figured . This organization will be run much differently in the front office . I look for him to hire a GM some time in the near future too.

of moves.
The roster has redundancies at the wrong positions C, DH, 1B, and less bothersome 2B.
Revenue streams probably would prefer not to wait and see a 1 step at a time approach and impact.
As you point out so well, it isn't his way of doing things.
Bloom. Is being judged on his work. The sooner he can get the Cardinals to match his vision
the sooner he will be comfortable with the judgement. He recently got fired after 4 seasons
when the fruit was just starting to show.
How he sees each player on the roster matching his vision is unknown to me. Difficult
to think there are many matches.
