And why can't they help him ?Is it all his fault or do the coaching same need some blame. If the the kid can make make contact could be a great hitter.
He gets homer happy! He starts trying to pull everything. Pitchers recognize this and don’t give him anything that he can hit that way hard, but he tries to anyway. When he goes with the pitch and just hits what he’s given, he does pretty good. You’ll see him hit balls out to LCF, and hit line drives into the gaps. However, once he does this a few times, he starts fooling himself into thinking he can do that with any pitch and falls back into old habits. Nothing will ever change until he realizes this and Is ok being that type of hitter.
He wants to be a 40 homer guy so bad, I don’t think he’ll ever change. He’s simply too stubborn and believes he can do it his way!
If he'd stay with the "going with the pitch" for a season, he'd hit 40

Because he, Walker and Pallante are all AAAA players at best.

Gorman, Walker and a few others appear to be too stupid to have baseball smarts.
Stop drafting dummies!

Perhaps it’s for the same reason I cannot hit MLB pitching, and not every person on the planet is capable of doing so? This forum does a great job of reminding why things are how they are.

Agree - it seems the baseball IQ of many Cardinals is very low.

Can’t resist the high fastball like I can’t resist a jelly donut
When growing up in Webster Groves, my Dad thought Lubley's Bakery had the most awesome jelly donuts . They moved from Yorkshire Shopping Center to the stand alone store in Marlboro a mile away . after 70 ? years , they closed . An aweseome place

I keep seeing posts about him going on "hot" streaks. He had a very good June, hitting 0.256 with 6 HRs and a 0.867 OPS. Otherwise, he's been trash all season.
He's hitting 0.191/0.288/0.338/0.626 since the all-star break and has struck out 42.6% of his ABs.
His defense is awful because he can't throw accurately. That's been a problem his whole career, even at 2B. At least at 2B he doesn't have to make as many long throws.
We gotta root for anyone and everyone to step up to their potential. But, Gorman isn't someone we can rely on going forward.

Pitchers recognition is putrid throughout the lineup but then again it seems to be that way throughout baseball. I really think that with all the velocity today, we may see the resurgence of short sweet punch swings like Gwynn and Rose and Carew in baseball.

His bat does not go where the ball flies by.

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them"
-M. Angelou
Especially true in sports.
Gorman (and Walker too) have showed us who they are, time to cut the cord and move on some time in 2026 if they keep doing so.

Feels like a discipline issue. When he takes the right approach (laying off the high fastball, hit it where it’s pitched instead of pulling everything) he can be effective. Really seemed to have turned a corner near end of August. Got lazy, lost focus and back to bad habits. I don’t think pitchers found anything new here in September. Gorman just got lazy.
Frustrating in that he has proven he can perform when focused. He’s had plenty of time now to prove that he can sustain that focus. Doubtful he’s ever going to.
I would look to trade him in the offseason knowing that he may, one day, get his head screwed on right and become a consistent player. Probably not going to happen here, if at all.

I’m going to break this Down scientifically. Apologies for the detailed analysis.
He’s just not good.

My wife’s birthday cakes came from Lubely’s every year, about 58 or so, until they closed.
Definitely a great bakery.

Same thing with Walker. Keeps trying to pull those outside sliders every flipping time. You'd think at some point he'd try something different but noooooooooope.
