The idea of letting him stick around and instruct the young players for a year because it’s a rebuilding year anyway, is absurd!
We need someone here that is going to instill a Winning culture in the clubhouse, which would permeate through the young players and start building this culture back positively immediately.

If you are one of what seems to be the majority of posters here who want Marmol gone, who is your wish list of candidates?
John Farrell, Francona, Bochy, Snitker, Melvin or anyone near the top of this list who has won in the playoffs - also note that Oli is ranked 28 out of 30 and Bud Black has already been fired from this list.

Im one who wants him gone, but its crazy for me to suggest the very limited candidates that I'm aware of. How about we trust the GM and his knowledge of capable coaches or former managers throughout the league? Its helpful that we'll soon have a GM who is familiar with multiple teams, and credible candidates, not limiting the choices to puppets from the Cardinal organization.

The Marmot should have been let go 2-3 yrs ago. I do not see all the talk about him as great teacher in the minors.
Tony Lovullo - D'Backs
Dave McKay - D Backs
Mattingly - Toronto
Sandy Alomar Jr - Cleveland
Edgar Martinez - Mariners
Walt Weiss - Atlanta
Pitching Coaches:
Snyder - Rays
Mark Prior - Dodgers
Would love to have Kevin Cash of Rays - just cannot see them letting him go.

BDWJR will have the final say on whether Oli stays on for 2026 or is fired after seasons end.
Dewitt is involved (and as the owner has the FINAL SAY) on almost EVERY SINGLE major decision, he's a lifetime baseball man and he makes the final call!
If he decides 2026 is yet another "runway/re-build" season (and by all accounts it's going to be), then he may just stick w/Oli (who's under contract for 2026) and let him assist w/developing these young players.
After 2026 when Oli's contract expires, then and likely only then will C. Bloom choose his new Manager.
JMO but I strongly think this is how it's going to play out.
That said I'd love for Bloom to somehow get Kevin Cash out of Tampa!
Then I hope Jr loves looking at 20k empty seats.

I personally don't care. I want Bloom to install who he likes best. There just needs to be a flushing of this system and you can't do it keeping Oli at the helm.
Canning him is the easiest way to signal to fans that you know that there's a major issue, you hear them and are trying a different path. Just the idea of bringing him back optically looks like, as a team, you like where we're going. If you want any fans in the stadium next year that cannot be the message
Personnel decisions should not be influenced by ticket sales.
Is baseball a business? Are the Cardinals trying to earn a profit? Then yes, personnel decision should be influenced by ticket sales.
Fans have soured on the Cardinals and I wonder what approval rating Oli has right now.. I guess the question is, why would you keep him? Is he just that good?
Has nothing to do with marmol
It’s a strategy and philosophy…..
Determine a plan and strategy moving forward……what is the best way to build a club for long term success…..that strategy may result in some poor seasons and low attendance…..but it is often the cost for a long term strategy for success…stick to the plan…
Or…..they can approach the future from a ticket sales point of view…..a patch here, a patch there….hey, this warm body will sell some tickets and maybe a third wild card spot..
The ticket office has had a seat at the baseball table too long……..washed up, legacy players might sell to the sheep…..but it’s not the way to build a consistent winner…

Couldn’t agree more on everything you said. I doubt they will pay Oli to not manage and I would LOVE Cash as Mgr.

If bloom isn’t planning keeping oli long term there’s no reason to keep him just because of the contract. If he does that he’s just as worthless Mo and his contract plays philosophy it’s not like olis making millions anyway

I'm all ready for a rebuild and have been for a few seasons. That's what they need and that's what they should have. That includes getting rid of the captain that's been driving this ship. Why alienate even more fans by keeping an extremely unpopular manager while you're doing it?

My biggest concern is Dewitt keeping Oli for the final year of his contract as a big FU to the fans for not showing up in droves and wasting their hard-earned money on an inferior product. And because there's likely an upcoming stoppage due to the expiring CBA, I find it highly unlikely the Cards want to spend this offseason and if they're not spending, why not go all-in cheap and keep the guy you're already paying.
After all, they still turned a profit this year. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they try to milk one final year out of the system in place and THEN say, "Okay, we heard you loud and clear, it's time for a change ... blah blah blah."

I agree….he should go……….but it should be part of an overall purging of the organization….and that includes some really poor players….
Not a “lets dump this guy to sell some tickets “ plan…
If they are aggressive in the rebuild, the new guy is going to have some tough seasons as well…
It’s important to get a guy who understands the plan and is patient..
