Why is anybody surprised, bad team that has thrown in the towel.
Don’t think anyone’s surprised, but if they are I hope it’s pleasantly so. Only way DeWitt will learn his lesson.
Unfortunately it isn’t always that easy in the minds of millionaires/billionaires, who often like to find payback for those that have wronged them. No matter how irrational and further damaging it may be.
Very true.
A fitting end to the Mo-ran legacy .

...Tickets sold is only one part of the total income stream of the organization. The "break-even" point, where income equals expenses is probably a closely-guarded secret. And it varies somewhat from season to season because the income streams and expenses vary also.
The apparent number of empty seats probably does not affect profits as much as it might appear to do. Owning a MLB team is a lucrative business, and the Cardinal organization has been very good to the owners.
Not just empty seats. It's empty parking spaces and empty beer cups and empty hot dog trays, Etc. Ballpark Village is no doubt taking a hit as well.
Ball Park Village might get his attention first

Can they possibly drop below 15,000?
I wonder how many season tickets were sold. They won't drop below whatever that number is.

And yet, a ticket-price-increase is the solution to all of their problems? This would definitely merit an "F" in Marketing 101.

I think those green seats include food. Is it possible nobody wants a free meal and at least some kind of entertainment?

Last night was pitiful.
I was there and almost felt like I was watching a covid era game, lots of social distancing.
Hardly any of my customer's are calling for tickets, I'm going to cut down to two (from four) since Dewitt is making it clear this is the kind of team we're going to see for the next couple seasons.

But Bill says baseball isn’t all that profitable, remember?

I went to see the Padres when they were in town. Decent crowd for a Thursday night. But a majority of the fans paid very little attention to the game. Lots of movement and phone play. I feel it's become more of a social outing than a baseball crowd.

They know some will attend regardless of what level of product is on the field. Guess they figure they can gouge the ones who do show. The DeWitts and Mozeliak really seem to have disdain for the fans.

I've witnessed the same Juan
Why do these idiots pay to go to the game then sit there on their phones.

I smell a rat here with 17,002 as the # of tickets sold. Huzzah. There has to be more than 17,000 season tickets purchased for this year. A lot more. I’m surprised no one else has mentioned this.
