Can't it be both? Or does it have to only be one?

When he first came up he was on it. That’s potential. We all know the stories of hereafter.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 08:27 amI can't recall seeing any potential/talentsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 08:13 amIs/was my favorite player. Nah. He was hot for a moment. League figures him out and you see the resultssikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 09:09 amWhen he first came up he was on it. That’s potential. Possibly. You’re often right. But the timing as suspect- take hot rookie and try and make him a better toy. They broke it.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 09:13 amNah. He was hot for a moment. He’s just terrible this season. I have no clue what you do with him.
AA...prove it for 30+ games. AAA if he makes progression...but needs 60+ games of proof...Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 10:20 amHe’s just terrible this season. I have no clue what you do with him.
If Elon Musk buys the Cardinals then we can fix everything. Cardinals have scored 606 runs. Every other team in the NL Central has allowed fewer than 606 runs. Cardinals have allowed 65 more runs than any team in the NL Central. Pitching has to be the priority.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 08:52 amSo impressed with the hitting?![]()

Thats incorrect. He has an option year left. But he has only 1 option year remaining and has stayed in majors this far into the year that they are better off waiting and optioning him next year instead of burning his option year now. Cuz if they burn his option year now he wont be able to be optioned next year if he doesnt figure it out in offseason.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 17:48 pmHad a good season at AA in 22, followed it up with an even better Fall League that year, and after the fan discontent at Mo's offseason thrift isle shopping, he was rushed to MLB after a decent 3 weeks of Spring Training in 23 to distract the fans with a shiny new toy. Started off great, finished the season strong, and it's all been downhill from there. Whatever THIS org is teaching him, it's either not sticking or not working.CCard wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 17:10 pm I sorely disappointed with his hitting. I was hoping for at least .250 with double digit Hr's and he's been pretty bland. He has all the tools but he's just not using them. Can coaching help? I don't know, is he even coachable? Did he hit like this in the minors? None of the Cards outfielders are doing the job. Noot, Scott and Walker are very poor this year. Scott should be hitting down on the ball and using his speed. Noot has shown flashes of promise but at this point he's more of a 4th outfielder I think. And Walker, well, he needs to go back down and prove himself. Can Whetherholt play outfield?
He can't go down again this year without being DFA'd--so I've been told. Hopefully they start him at AAA next year with a new personal hitting coach or something and he stays there until he dominates and figures out how to recognize a pitch and for the love of God, move at least 6 inches closer to the plate.

I disagree that pitching is the only issue. You only looked at NL Central. They play all teams. One hitter with an 800 OPS...for now. One player with 20 HRs. Nobody with a negative run diff is making the playoffs. Cards have the 11th worst run diff.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 14:48 pmAsked and answered.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 12:52 pmCan't it be both?
