His contract is actually very reasonable for a #2 or #3

Free agents always get overpaid. It’s the price for poor drafting and development and always will be. You don’t get to enjoy the fruits of others labors when you didn’t handle your own business.
Overpaid according to who? That’s their market value. Only overpaid to Dewitt and the owners that refuse to spend

Maybe old people will show up!
Nope, they’re busy barbecuing assistant referees, fourth officials and the VAR crew in the backyard while playing bottlecap ball.

He needs moved this off season. Team in rebuild and moving now will let him get a final payday. The Caardinals have no possibility of contending next season

Not relevant to today's discussion but I've wondered if he could be a stopper when his starting days are over. (Not for next year's salary!) Just don't know how much recovery time he needs.

I never liked that signing. But all the others were overpaid that year. If you arent the big $ teams, you have to grow your pitching and fill in the roster with the $ you have. We grew the pitching than gave away a big chunk in bad trades.
That is very true that we did grow some good pitching but traded it away.

When I said overpaid, I was referring to free agency in general as a known premium price that is ever increasing for the luxury of buying wins to make up for other deficiencies in your business model, such as draft and development.

As in, the #3 you sign this year might cost the same as an ace from a few years ago, but that doesn’t mean you’re getting an ace. Yet many still get angry about it.

No excuses for throwing a lot of meatballs to A's batters today.

It appears that several different excuses will be needed today. Sonny G was terrible today.

Not that it really matters, but still frustrating.

I am sure the post-game comments will be filled with them.

Problem is-as discussed, the first 2 years were reasonable but '26 he's clearly in decline and owed $35 million. We are going to have to buy out Arenado. How much of Grays deal are other teams willing to pay. The return will be poor. We need innings. I couldn't predict what they do. But he is only 1 more year.

weather was 2 cool for him.

Cardinals need to rid themselves of him and nado. horrible vet leaders, who worry about golf partners and cashing checks, not winning a title.

neither has won a thing, and has no ambition to do it, just cashing checks
