Saggese at SS again today

With Masyn Winn (knee soreness) scratched from today’s #STLCards starting lineup, Thomas Saggese slides over to shortstop and Jose Fermin starts at second base.


Sooooooooo glad we get to see Saggese & Fermin instead of, oh I don't know..................JJW!

No benefit at all in bringing JJ up in August, or maybe even this season.

First, he's 100% earned a callup.

Second, bringing him up so he can get his feet wet, meet his teammates, find a place to live and learn St. Louis, experience big league travel, the media, ect.....is a HUGE BENEFIT, gives him a jumpstart toward 2026.

Watching Saggese play defense is not a pleasant sight. He struggles to keep up at any position. Not enough arm for third or short, not enough range for second unless he is hitting 825 OPS. Not likely to happen.

I agree. JJ should be brought up soon. He is ready to contribute at the show. Last night he got two hits off Chris Sale! and went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and a walk. Made a couple outstanding plays at SS. No good reason to keep him in Memphis any longer, IMO.
