Kind of made me wonder if a minor trade might be in the works. A Tex or a Joseph for a bag of pucks. If that WAS the case then Lucic might be here simply to fill that hole during preseason and, if on the team when the season starts, only as a bottom line fill in if someone gets hurt.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 10:22 am I guess I’m fine with it. He seems washed and I’m not thrilled with the domestic abuse angle but he also seems like he’s in a much better place than he was 2-3 years ago and his wife now supports him again. Doesn’t excuse what he did but given Lucic would’ve played for Monty in Boston and Monty’s own alcoholism and redemption story, I’m not surprised we’re giving him a chance.
At the end of the day, I don’t expect him to earn a spot. But you also don’t really know what all might transpire. Maybe one of Tex or Joseph gets moved and Lucic will show enough to stick around as the 14th forward on a league min contract. I guess we’ll see in camp/preseason.

I think Monty is doing him a favor, but I’m fine if Lucic can protect the “Baby Blues” during the preseason games.

Just as long as he doesn’t injure one of them in camp practice…Frank Underwood wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 11:20 am I think Monty is doing him a favor, but I’m fine if Lucic can protect the “Baby Blues” during the preseason games.
But agree it’s likely Monty played a role in convincing Army to give Lucic a shot. Monty has his own redemption story from alcoholism after all.

Re: Milan Lucic on a PTO
If such a trade were to materialize, I doubt it would happen now. Would likely only happen right before the season starts. Like one of Tex/Joseph for future considerations (nothing) and then the Blues sign Lucic to a league minimum contract the same day sort of thing. Something that’d really only happen if Lucic actually performs better than one of Tex/Joseph. Or performs equally and will obviously cost less.Backesdraft wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 10:51 amKind of made me wonder if a minor trade might be in the works. A Tex or a Joseph for a bag of pucks. Maybe he’ll teach kyrou to play with some fire?

Re: Milan Lucic on a PTO
Almost zero chance he makes the roster, but some fans crying like we just signed him to a 3x5 contract. [fork]ing idiots.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025 08:08 am I guess you need an expendable fighter on the roster...?
Re: Milan Lucic on a PTO
I thought Lucic retired years ago. He's very slow. I would have preferred they brought back Maroon for a season.

Nothing wrong with taking a look at one of the better team leaders in the NHL at one time. On the bench or around the team he would have a positive influence.
Re: Milan Lucic on a PTO
Doubt he makes the team. Sounds like Lucic's last hurrah, so maybe he has some fire in him.
If he's the 13th or 14th winger, I'm ok with it. The Blues could use a little "crazy" and toughness.

Yep. Saw yesterday where Pat was hired as Asst Coach for Muskegon. His son Anthony was drafted by Green Bay a year ago but then Muskegon traded for him a few months ago.
Muskegon was loaded last year, winning the Clark Cup. Phenom and likely 2026 top-10 pick Tynan Lawrence is returning. Do you know where Nestrasil is playing this season?
Re: Milan Lucic on a PTO
I knew Maroon had officially retired. I wasn't sure what he was doing. I'd just rather have him over Lucic. I still got love for Big Rig.

Re: Milan Lucic on a PTO
Lucic is just a placeholder. Texier, Joseph are the current placeholders as we wait for Dvorsky, Carbonneau and others to arrive. It wouldn’t surprise me if Lucic grabs one of those spots, plays 25-30 games and gives us some locker room leadership. I wonder how much Monty pushed for this.
It won’t hurt to see if Lucic has anything left in the tank.

Re: Milan Lucic on a PTO
Adding in Lucic could be good for this team. Bringing in Bjugstad, Mailloux and Lucic could turn this team from a pushover small team to a tough team to play against.
Might not be that bad of a call.
