It’s less a shot at old people and more a shot at Cranny, who used “old people can’t handle the heat” as an excuse for poor attendance. Kind of an inside joke.Whatashame wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:35 pm
Why take a shot at old people. I was with you until then. The team, the owner, the POBO all have a lot to do with no one showing up to the games but what did old people have to do with any of this.

Lighten up Francis...it was an excuse used on an earlier thread as to why the attendance was down...I'm 73 and go to a lot of games.Whatashame wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:35 pm

It may be a concern but it’s an overblown one. The Cardinals don’t play on the North side anymore. It’s a city, use common sense. Walk from the parking garage to the game in a group and you’re fine.11WSChamps wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:31 pmThe reality is when it comes to gun related crimes st. Louis was ranked first. I don't go to hardly any games because I don't agree with how the franchise is being run
Also for a lot of younger fans as well older ones they're being priced out. How many folks raising a family can afford to buy season tickets given the state of the ballclub.
As for pricing, nobody has to buy season tickets. You could get into today’s game for less than $10 and Friday’s game has a get-in price of about $30. Against the Yankees on a weekend. That’s incredibly reasonable for sports in 2025.

Sorry I guess I haven’t followed the give and take very well. It at least explains it to me. I was wondering what the heck old people had to do with this mess.

All good…I do think the aging of the fanbase is a critical problem the team has to figure out how to address, but this probably isn’t the venue to do so.Whatashame wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:54 pmdesertrat23 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:44 pmIt’s less a shot at old people and more a shot at Cranny, who used “old people can’t handle the heat” as an excuse for poor attendance. You lighten up (donkey)(pit). I just explained to another poster that I haven’t followed the give and take close enough I guess, so I was wondering what old people had to do with this mess.
You and your response though can kiss my (donkey).

Lighten up buttercup...you made a comment... Overblown for who? For you? That's fine maybe it isn't with other people. I saw a young lady wearing a mask in the parking lot of a grocery store today. Ridiculous but her choice.desertrat23 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:51 pmIt may be a concern but it’s an overblown one. The Cardinals don’t play on the North side anymore. It’s a city, use common sense. Speaking of common sense so how does this franchise fill the stands without selling tens of thousands of season tickets? You're not going to get big crowds by folks just showing up for the odd game.

I agree with a lot of this. The current state of this team has/is doing little to grow the fanbase. I guess it’s another reason I don’t understand the reasoning from BDW/Mo that has let this team go the way it has. They couldn’t have thought this was a good idea.

The mistake here is thinking that Cardinals fans are disgruntled because they don't understand what a truly dysfunctional club is like. But the opposite is true. Smart fans know all too well how easily a proud club with loyal supporters can slip into decades of irrelevance because of feckless owners who only speaks one language.
Maybe now that we're speaking that language, someone will listen.

Re: Where are the Cardinals fans?
I can't speak for anyone else but they lost me in March of 2024. Finished 2023 with a 71 and 91 record and follow that dreadful season with a Marmol extension. That to me was an unforgivable sin. I understand losing seasons happen but typically you're going to realize big changes are needed afterwards. Giving him that extension following that season told me that winning was no big deal and mediocrity, and even worse, was acceptable.
I took the family to one game this year because it's tradition but I typically only DVR the games now so I can fast forward through the lukewarm soup of a game.
I didn't like the manager hiring from day one and I certainly didn't like the extension so I'm kind of done following like I had my whole life until he departs the premises

When the banks, insurance companies, stock brokers, and accident attorneys cancel their luxury suites, tickets sold will plummet even more than they have to this point. And don't say that it couldn't happen.

Re: Where are the Cardinals fans?
The answer is as plain as the nose on old geezer's face.
Win and people young and old will show up.
The ballclub has turned going to a game into an event, and not just another game.
Going there with a good chance your team is going to bring more joy and entertainment by winning brings out more fans.
Its been done before.
