It wasn't he "couldn't handle the heat" rather you can't get a good grip on the ball when the humidity is as high as it's been.

S. Alcantara said the same thing.

Good old spider tack was the solution, but gone.
Well if he can’t grip the ball in the heat then yea he can’t handle the heat

Heard my grandmother years ago say to my Mom , 'If you can't handle the heat , get out of the kitchen ! '
Now I know why so many of our dinners in the summertime were either carry outs or fast food ! :D
