Blockbuster:
Dodgers get Donovan, Helsley, Nootbaar, and Arenado
Cardinals get Pages, Sheehan, Jackson Ferris, and Mike Sirota
Go get 'em Mo!

Article says the asking price is sky high as it should be. Add Helsley and get Pages and a young pitcher from Dodgers or Dominguez and a young pitcher from Yankees
I wanted Pages for Winn + Helsley but would gladly sub in Donny!
Get er' done Mo/Bloom!

I understand fans on here vastly overrate Cardinal players and suspects. But why would the Dodgers part with Pages who is a productive player in their lineup and is cost controlled. Answer? They wouldn't.

Also from that Katie Woo article:
“ Other position players gathering varying levels of interest are Iván Herrera, Alec Burleson and Lars Nootbaar. The Cardinals will not part with one of their position players unless they are blown away by the offer, and their conversations have not progressed past initial check-ins.”

Our Mo couldn’t possibly process that many names in one trade

Only way I trade Donovan is for one helluva return. Like a young cost controlled corner OFer with OPS north of .800, AND a good SP prospect. Don't worry, MO is timid. He is not trading Donnie.
agree

Me too. (MO buys high and sells low.) He'll never trade the team's lone All Star, no matter how much sense it might make. Not that I'm for trading Donny. It would depend on the offer.

The key line here is "unless blown away by the offer". I understand this stance regarding Donovan, Herrera, and even Burleson. But Nootbaar? Hahahaha. OK, Mo. You really are a putz.

I haven't been paying much attention, but isn't Pages their starting CFer? Why would the Dodgers trade him in the middle of a WS run?
Anyway, I'm all for trading Donovan, if you get a big return, so I'm glad to hear they're asking for a lot. I think at this point the days of trying to lock him up for a long, team friendly deal are over. He's gonna want to get paid, and rightly so. And as much as I like Donovan, the Cardinals have JJ coming up soon, so they don't need to spend a bunch of money on 2B right now.
Donovan is a really good player, but if we're only going to hold onto him the next two years while he's under control, we probably aren't going to be competitive, so it's kind of a waste.
Not so glad to hear that they aren't thrilled about trading Nootbaar or Burleson, if teams are truly interested in them. Burleson I guess I understand wanting to hold onto, but my runway with Noot is out. If you can get something good for him, go for it.

Would have to consider Andy Pages and Sheehan for Donovan and Helsley- ?
Why? 24 year old Right handed hitting corner OF with pop.
(He is not a CF regardless of the Dodgers playing him in CF)
And 25 year old solid starting pitcher with upside.
Solves right handed bat w/pop issue, fills rotation void and opens up 2nd base for JJ while acquiring two players who are not arb eligible until 2027- a good “reset”.
If we’re dead set on no trade for Donnie then demand Rushing and and Noot. (Can trade surplus catching)

I get all Pages would make sense for us, but I guess I don't understand why the Dodgers would want to trade one of their most productive players (3rd in bWAR among Dodgers position players), regardless of if he's playing CF or one of the corner OF spots.
Donovan would be a downgrade for them. And they're going to throw a starter in the deal too? A downgrade offensively, then a starter for a reliever who is a free agent at the end of the season?

The Dodgers use Pages in CF, but often remove him for a better defensive CF in late innings, for instance with Outman. Pages has started in RF and LF 34 games this season. They also have Tommy Edman who can play CF.

If the Dodgers got what they needed (Donny + Helsley), then they could easily be the top bidder this offseason for K. Tucker who's an upgrade over Pages.
With Ohtani-Freeman-Betts-Smith-Hernandez they still have an incredible 2025 offense that would also add Donny (.293 .360 .428 .788)!
Deal makes a lot of sense for both teams, win-win.

NO! Do not trade Donovan!
I’m with you. The return will not match his contribution
Exactly. He is an all star and a CARDINAL. Leave him the he.ll alone.
