And Mo buried him behind Mikolas and Fedde. Total organizational malpractice.
Because Mozeliak is an arrogant dumb[ash]. His pride leads him to stick with things that aren't working. Even at the detriment of the team.

Needs to start Saturday or Sunday against San Diego but probably be sent back down
I don't think he can be sent back down this year. The limit is 5--before being exposed to waivers--and I think he has five.
if true......good
good for him
good for Card fans

Let's not get carried away about how he was mismanaged. We're not talking about Paul Skenes here. He had a nice outing, and while the zero BB is impressive, the 1 k in 7 innings was not. Against a real MLB team 27 batted balls out of 28 batters faced usually isn't going to end good.
With that said. There is no question that he should be in the rotation for the remainder of the year. Get both Mokolas and Fedde the F outta there!

He's at 4. They have one more. And he has like 5 total days of service time.

Being optioned to the minors out of Spring Training doesn't count.

were any of his call-ups to be the 27th man in a doubleheader? if so, does being sent back down in that situation count as an option?

Just another pitch to contact guy
That's what he appears to be. The over excitement on this forum is to be expected considering the state of the rotation. But this rotation needs more K material.

You have to agree that his strikeout tonight was impressive.
He just may be the next Nolan Ryan.

Good post and reasonable take.
I like Mcgreevy but let’s not get too excited here.

Just another backend starter who will have a poor K rate and will give up a lot of hits.
That will prove to be true as he gets more starts.

The point isn’t that McGreevy is the next Paul Skenes, it’s that other than Sonny Gray who currently is better (maybe Liberatore but it’s close) and how the head of the organization has refused to prioritize winning (or even follow his own words). Even the refresh or reset talked about giving young players a chance to showcase their skills. But every five days MM or EF gets the start.

I’m not saying he can’t be a decent back of the rotation guy and I’d certainly rather have him that Fedde or Mikolas, but people are getting over their skis here for sure.

3.72 with a 1.240 in the minors

I figured there was a catch since Marmol kept talking about how he "hopes" McGreevy sticks this time.
(The ease with which teams can yo-yo pitchers to the minors and back, effectively making for a pitching roster of 17 or 18 is not good for the game, and clearly not good for MM--or the fans--in this case.)

I think they are victim to their own way. The need to replace ailing pitchers is high hence the yo-yo.
Only thing I don’t agree with is yanking a MM type around so much.
