I wonder if the cardinals drafted this kid with the intention of throwing him in the bullpen this year?
A few analysts on ESPN said this is the one kid who could be MLB ready immediately
So who will be better him or Hernandez? No one cares when they are “ready” we need highest upside
In the cardinals case- I think it was more on who is cheaper than who has more upside
What evidence do you have that this kid is cheaper? Per other comments, Doyle threw a pretty packed SEC schedule. I don't think that he will pitch much this year.

Are we sure BDW can afford to sign him?

I was hoping for Hernandez... the video I saw of Liam he often throws all over... didn't like the lack of control from what I saw.

The kid can be a (bleep). They better get that attitude fixed. Don’t call him furry like Gibson. He shows a lot of disrespect. Not crazy about the pick.

This team could use some attitude

If we've moved all our resources to Minor League development - how can we not afford to sign anyone?

Cards had another crazy lefty with attitude. He is wearing a Cards HOF jacket.

With another being traded to Philly who now has a HOF plaque who was considered an A-hole by the media as well

So long as he keeps it to the guys in the other dugout? I don't care. We need a rusty nail. For once, I'd like to have a player that other teams absolutely hate*
Edit: *That isn't Miles Meatballs. Though, I'm sure they love him in their own way. In a very "this makes the back of my baseball card look good" way.

Pirates thinking? They have no offense? None in MLB or in minors. Never have I seen a team completely ignore hitters. You think Pittsburgh took a signing problem? I doubt $ was a factor
They have the best hitting prospect in baseball in the minors in konnor griffin actually. watch out for florentino as well.

I doubt the kid pitches professionally in '25.
He threw 90 innings this year in college ball. I assume they will take him to Jupiter for a few weeks. I would like to see them give him 4 starts in Springfield in August. Maybe limit him to 20 innings or so. That should give him a feel for professional hitters and an idea whether he is ready to start at AA in 2026. If yes, then maybe he works his way to Memphis by June or so next year.
I like the pick. He is a potential TOR starter. If he gets to the MLs by 2027, that should coincide with the Cards winning window opening up. I don't see any reason to rush him quicker than that. If they put him in the bullpen to get a taste of ML pitching, it makes no sense at all. We did that with Jordan Hicks...

I'm guessing the Cardinals see him as a starter and will use him as such whenever he starts his career in low A ball which is a higher level of baseball than college.
