Bedard might say he understands but he is hardly content with the state of that present franchise and it will be interesting how he handles his RFA next year if this year is yet another dud.
It's year four of a complete teardown rebuild and almost all of the picks since then will be on the team next season. Not sure what you expected...what team has pulled off a complete teardown quicker than 5 or 6 years?
technicall you are in year 7 of losing only playoffs once in last 8 years.... Wow forgot it was that long. The blues cup team to now is completely different yet we are going to be contenders for a long time. Chicago just kinda sucks

Do you think the Hawks will be a bit better this season or basement dwellers again? Personally, I’m a little surprised they haven’t added a few more vets to supplement the roster to help the kids along. There’s some insane talent there but you still need some vets to help be good role models, not let all the kids sink or swim (causing too many to sink) etc.

My guess is they’re purposely not supplementing the kids so they can stay bad one more season to have a shot at McKenna. What are your thoughts?

I still think they will tank for mckenna and try to sign/trade for mcdavid. Not saying it works but it sounds like a chicago thing to do.

They'll be better on paper but with a new coach I'm sure there will be more growing pains. At the end of the season the youth took over played really well against some playoff teams. They're definitely going to be in the lottery for McKenna - that is the unwritten plan.

In regard to adding vets - almost all of the best possible additions were gone by the time July hit...almost all re-signed with their teams or moved to a legit contender - I'm good with having the vet presence of Donato, Foligno, Teuvo, Bertuzzi and Murphy - they all come to play and hold their own. I'm good with letting the younger prospects get a ton of ice with nobody in the way. After the 25/26 season I can see a big splash happening with multiple contacts coming to an end right when one of the best free agent markets opens up for business.

It sucks to go through but Stan Bowman made so many terrible moves that it was inevitable.
