High Hat, and others, what about this?
I read today that Buffalo would want a third pairing defender and a prospect. I wish I could find the link. What about Colton Ellis, Faulk plus maybe a draft pick. Is that enough to intrigue Adams? The problem is Faulk has a limited no movement clause. Who would want to go to Buffalo, plus Faulk is a midwestern guy. San Jose needs to spend and could take on salary. I know our offer has to be appealing, but Adams knows he's got a roster problem with Byram. Maybe Byram is trying to force a trade from Buffalo, so he's scaring them with high salary demands.
I just don't see the Blues as a match here.
I believe Adams wants help right now because they want to make the playoffs this year.
The Sabres have 3rd pair d-men. They need an RHD that can play with Dahlin and a top 6 LW with bite.
Faulk is from Minny so he is used to harsh winters, but you're probably correct.
If the Blues want to dump Faulk's salary he would be a perfect fit from where we got him because they need an RHD upgrade.
The Canes are set on LHD for several years. That would leave us short at RHD though.
Byram is still young enough for a defenseman, but the offensive upside is overrated by many.
I mentioned in the other thread that Byram is not a PP specialist.
Only 3 career PP goals and 7 assists.
If BoBy is so proficient on the right side why is Buffalo trying to trade him?
* It's possible he has quietly requested the trade.
* Buffalo has an internal salary cap I mentioned earlier in this thread.
* The Sabres realize Byram has reached his peak right now and is not worth his salary demand.
Avs fans or any shoe clerk for that matter will tell you that Byram has not been the same since the concussion(s).
Pre-concussion he was similar to a wild horse but has since been broken.
Skating with abandonment has transitioned into trepidation.
I know at the time the Avs were desperate for center help but why did they trade Byram straight up for the nickel-dime Mittlestadt?
MacFarland/Sakic knew that Byram would never be the same and/or didn't want the risk of a career ending injury.
Maybe all of the other GM's in the league also knew. That is why Colorado had to settle for Mittelstadt.
Ironically, the Avs now could use a major upgrade on their 2nd pair but you don't hear them mentioned in the Byram rumors.
Let some other team take on this risk because the reward is too hard to find.
