Only Competitive Balance Round A and B picks can be traded. And a few have this year. I'll link the Draft order, and you can scroll down after the 1st and 2nd rounds to look at the Comp Bal picks....and there's a note next to it if it's been traded. Note ~ The Cards have the 72nd pick, which is a Comp Bal Round B pick.

Thanks. I just realized I probably never paid attention to the draft because the Cardinals were too good to have a high draft pick!

quite a few of us have called for the Cards to trade Helsley to the Mariners (KYace especially) or the Dodgers for their Comp A picks before the draft takes place. I'll settle for several players to pry away a Comp pick. There's some really good HS players we could draft in the late 30's...or a good college hitter that might fall out of the 1st roun.

Hernandez is my highest rated draftee/prospect. But... I'm not the GM and they're mostly shy when it comes to HS RHP. Assuming Holliday is gone, I'll go with Willits/Parker or Arnold (I'm assuming he's the LHP not selected before us. I think Anderson and Doyle go before 5th)

Hernandez and Willits were available at that pick. I went with the high ceiling FOTR starter despite HS pitcher risks. I have not checked to see if Hernandez is healthy and if there is any realized concern.

Do we believe in our new development org or not? If so, then Hernandez.

If Anderson or Arnold are there at #5, then the Cardinals go that way.

I went with Willits. I think it'd be really cool to land Ethan Holliday, but I just don't see him making it to #5.

Nine of the sixteen college players have had ok or great MLB careers.

I had similar reasoning with who could already be gone but went with Willitz. From what I've read he's a fast switch hitter, good contact, good student. Could possibly be a CF too. He seems like more of a sure thing. Though maybe Bloom gambles a bit and goes Hernandez. It's an interesting early litmus test of his mindset.

Willits is so boring to me.

I like one of Parker, Arnold, or Arquette.

I’d take Arnold over Anderson and Doyle.
