MLB Draft Poll 2.0 ~ #5 overall pick
7/13/2025...13 days away from the MLB Draft.
Cards pick #5 will be? Vote here ~ https://smartpolls.co.uk/p/131155
Vote ~ only once. Website is safe. Same website as my previous two Draft polls.
I'm going to narrow this poll down to 11 names (it still feels wide open with this draft) with the 12th slot being "other". Please list below, if you'd like, what you picked. And if you selected "other", then share your pick. I'll try to tally. up all the "Other picks" the best I can. And "YES", I understand that 2 or 3 names won't be available @ #5...like Anderson, Doyle, Holliday. I encourage you to tread the poll however you want. Treat it like the actual draft, or draft your favorite, or draft realistically. All I ask of you is just have fun with it.
Note ~ Poll will close Thursday 12noon, CDT.

ENJOY.

I don't love it, but I voted on what I "think" the Cardinals will do. Jamie Arnold.
My impossible dream would have been Holiday
My "opportunity that will be there but we are too chicken to pull the trigger on is Hernandez

My firewall blocks the poll, but i vote Arnold

Since I don't want to create a new thread to ask questions I'll ask them here. I don't follow draft rules. I was reading the ESPN article yesterday on the draft. They have Holliday going to the Rockies at #4. There was a discussion of trading draft picks to move up. After that long introduction my question are can teams trade players to move up in the draft? If not, do you think if the Cardinals really wanted Holliday, the Rockies (or another team) would accept the #5 pick and the Cardinals' second pick to ensure the Cardinals get Holliday? Can teams trade picks from future years? Thanks!

Only Competitive Balance Round A and B picks can be traded. And a few have this year. I'll link the Draft order, and you can scroll down after the 1st and 2nd rounds to look at the Comp Bal picks....and there's a note next to it if it's been traded. Note ~ The Cards have the 72nd pick, which is a Comp Bal Round B pick.Bad14 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 10:29 am Since I don't want to create a new thread to ask questions I'll ask them here. Thanks. I just realized I probably never paid attention to the draft because the Cardinals were too good to have a high draft pick!craviduce wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 10:32 amOnly Competitive Balance Round A and B picks can be traded. Re: MLB Draft Poll 2.0 ~ #5 overall pick
quite a few of us have called for the Cards to trade Helsley to the Mariners (KYace especially) or the Dodgers for their Comp A picks before the draft takes place. I'll settle for several players to pry away a Comp pick. There's some really good HS players we could draft in the late 30's...or a good college hitter that might fall out of the 1st roun.Bad14 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 11:32 amThanks. Interesting. My friends seem to want Holliday or Hernandez. You?craviduce wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 11:35 amquite a few of us have called for the Cards to trade Helsley to the Mariners (KYace especially) or the Dodgers for their Comp A picks before the draft takes place.
