#NHL team draft value charts indicate that #isles packaging Nos. 16 and 17 overall are roughly worth the equivalent of one pick between No. 4-6 overall.

However, since everyone knows the target, there is an emotional and leverage premium that won't make it easy for NYI.

Canadian teams are really coming along outside of Van.

Habs fans should be pumped

LOL I would highly disagree with that.

And they have Logan Mallieux who very may well be the better d man.

Armstrong said there was a great deal on the table that would have included the Blues first round pick but he really wanted to see Nikki Glaser in blue.

So the cost was 9.5M and pieces necessary to acquire the 4th overall pick.

That’s unfortunate; I think the Blues had multiple ways to get there.

Only makes sense for them to have bowed out if Dobson didn’t want to go to the Midwest.

TBone wrote: 27 Jun 2025 13:15 pm For those more familiar with his game... Is he worth $9.5M? And could the Blues have afforded him at that price?

Also, is his contract one that will set the ballpark market for Broberg?
People are too hung up on the $9.5 mil..that’s just the going rate for dmen like him right now. He’d be worth it for many teams.
People have a real hard time understanding the fluid cap, Its probably wise to look at percentages rather than hard numbers,

Yeah it's just going to take time to get used to new contract values. If Dobson signed this deal at the same time Petro signed his, it would have been worth 8.1M (about what we offered Petro, but less than the 8.8M he got from Vegas). Two years from now when the cap hits 113.5M, it would be a 11.3M deal.

Now is as good a time as any to tear it all down and rebuild. They have a ton of draft capital, some more wouldn't hurt.

I would very much disagree that now is a good time to trade Barzal

I can have two mid firsts or a young 24 min linchpin RHD ... this is a no brainer for Montreal.

People need to wake up and accept how difficult it is to acquire the one player type that we need to acquire or else this train ain't leaving the station in the playoffs.
