There are probably 20+ teams that would, or should, kill to have a goalie like Binnington. A weak goalie is the easiest way for a good team to get eliminated in the playoffs, while a strong goalie is the easiest way for a mediocre team to make a run. How many great teams have failed to win a Cup because their GM’s are too stupid to address this issue? Dubas in Toronto was a great example and it rightfully cost him and ShanaClown their jobs. Edmonton is another great example…..best player in hockey and they are trying once again to ride Stuart Skinner to the Cup. Who knows, maybe he stays hot, but he is also the most likely reason they won’t win again this year.
I totally agree. The only problem is that we need trade bait, and our goalies is the only possible option. However, we should not create a goalie hole in the process of a trade.
I also fear what would happen if Armstrong trades away one of our young goalies. I'm sure he would be the next young star in the NHL.

I am not advocating for trading hofer, but do we think hofer has the IT factor to take this team over in a couple years or is he just our next goalie. Open for input

I don't know. I feel like it's impossible to know from my vantage point the value of Hofer. Same with the other prospect goalies. I give Armstrong credit for our goalie situation, so I'm OK with him making the decision.

Would be suicide to trade Binnington at this point. This team has a lot of mojo going on and Binnington is one of the biggest reasons for that. Not to mention, we have no one capable of stepping up to take his spot.
Not to mention that if we trade him, then Blues #50 Jersey sales will go down. And that is just SO crucial to the bottom line and success of the team, from what I have read on this forum too many times.
Let me get this straight ... the same person relentlessly applying the scarcity principle wants to trade the most scarce thing for less scarce (an exceptional player at ANY position)? This internal inconsistency is absurd.

The most scarce thing in STL is accountability of Army. Someone should have asked him 3 years ago, how we will get elite scarce talent. If they had, maybe we would not be in this hole, and maybe I wouldn't have to float up such stupid ideas.
Clearly, you have no faith in Army's prospect goalies.

this is an example of how your character your're playing is a totally inconsistent foofy clown.
you're trying to brand yourself a Scarcity Man and you do this. you're incompetent at playing this character.

Nice
Is everyone as misquoted as I?
I don't care about jersey sales, or jersey bottom lines. My only concern about jersey is that kids get to keep them in good working order during their childhood. I had to cut 10 yards to make enough money to buy my Big Red Mel Gray jersey, and then the B________s moved to AZ. I still got scars.
I still have high hopes for Hofer as the potential goalie of the future. I remember watching him win the World Juniors and he was cool as can be and helped lead Canada to Gold in 2020. That guarantees nothing, but I think he can be “The guy” at some point. But does he want to wait his turn, or will he be looking for an offer sheet this summer? Kind of like Broberg and Holloway, I probably wouldn’t blame him if he did, looking for a chance to be a #1 somewhere.
By the way, little known fact…..Hofer was Stuart Skinner’s backup at one point in Juniors.

Good info. I did not know that.
I was hoping that they would have played Hofer against Winnipeg for the sake of a 1-game sample of what we have in a playoff situation.
Maybe for trading purposes, the unknown is better. We'll see.

Couldn't agree more that it is important to keep valid jerseys on kids. Thanks for adding.
Please note here how I have poked the goat, and now I expect him to run off in the woods to disappear. With my move, I have now made him realize 1 important thing.
While it may be difficult to explain why IT IS IMPORTANT to keep jerseys on kids, it is even more difficult to explain WHY IT IS NOT IMPORTANT.
However, if he wants to argue it, I'm here in the wide open sunlit field.
No way that's your first time! But congratulations on finding your best field to be playing in order for you to keep getting lucky.
But. If his value is high and we are not going to better the team. What's the point of keeping him.
While he can keep a team in the game. What Winnipeg should of showed us is. We can't hit a team for 7 games. We just don't have the horses to stay in a series, counting on the grind to get it done.
I thought Carolina just re-signed Anderson. I don't the love(stats I guess) but I'd be happy getting Jesperi Kotkaniemi from them.

As with me, It's not luck under McDavid's skates. It's skill, baby, skill.
Have you asked the moderators if there are any fouls for embellishment?

I'm not at trading Binny, just yet.
