At this point I'd view anything around about a 4.50 ERA a success from him. I've seen many horrors through the years. An Old Friend wrote: ↑24 May 2025 08:48 amHe’s had a fortunate run here of late but don’t let that fool you into believing he’s pitching like a 1 or 2.
He has a .180 BABIP against in May with a 4.64 FIP / 4.90 xFIP. Thats way more in line with his 4.66 ERA in the first month than his 2.01 ERA in May.
Nice to see him getting good results. I’d view it as unsustainable.
You remove his 2.2 inning / 8 run stinker vs Boston, and his ERA is 2.24 ERA the other 9 starts.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑24 May 2025 12:14 pmAt this point I'd view anything around about a 4.50 ERA a success from him. If you take out the 7 starts that he’s given up runs, his ERA is 0.00.ecleme22 wrote: ↑24 May 2025 14:09 pmYou remove his 2.2 inning / 8 run stinker vs Boston, and his ERA is 2.24 ERA the other 9 starts.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑24 May 2025 12:14 pmAt this point I'd view anything around about a 4.50 ERA a success from him. He’s given up 5 ER or more 21 times since the beginning of 2023. Sorry - I don’t see the results as sustainable. Maybe management thinks as long as they don’t let him go past 20ish batters and 80ish pitches, he’ll get outlier results.
I think he’s getting results out of line with what should be expected going forward.Cusecards wrote: ↑24 May 2025 15:05 pmSo......you DON’T think Mikolas is pitching well???An Old Friend wrote: ↑24 May 2025 15:02 pmHe’s given up 5 ER or more 21 times since the beginning of 2023. I don’t dislike him. I’m just not going to pretend that he’s pitching all that well just because he’s had a handful of good outings. Is a .180 BABIP against great pitching or good fortune?
