Nope.
He is clearly not acting the clown nearly as much as during the last 2 years and is concentrating on getting one last contract.
Good timing for STL - perhaps they can move him at the deadline.
Matz too.

He has a .180 BABIP against in May with a 4.64 FIP / 4.90 xFIP. Thats way more in line with his 4.66 ERA in the first month than his 2.01 ERA in May.

Nice to see him getting good results. I’d view it as unsustainable.
At this point I'd view anything around about a 4.50 ERA a success from him. I've seen many horrors through the years.

You remove his 2.2 inning / 8 run stinker vs Boston, and his ERA is 2.24 ERA the other 9 starts.

MM may have found something…

If you take out the 7 starts that he’s given up runs, his ERA is 0.00.

It wouldn’t be an outlier like the Boston game.

He’s given up 5 ER or more 21 times since the beginning of 2023. It’s not really an outlier for him.

Sorry - I don’t see the results as sustainable. Maybe management thinks as long as they don’t let him go past 20ish batters and 80ish pitches, he’ll get outlier results.

The OP wasn’t about “sustainability” or Mikolas being an All-Star or whatever.
It was about him pitching very well to date which he has.

What have I stated that is the “garbage” that you disagree with?

Is a .180 BABIP against great pitching or good fortune?
