I didn’t see Jack as above forward when the team had to rebuild or refresh.
His struggles look mostly HR/FB% related which takes a while to stabilize. His xFIP is 3.35 or something like that. That's not enough to change my mind on that contract yet.

And he pitched 6 shutout innings in his first start of the season in his 1 win. Ever since then he’s been brutal. He’s given up 7+ hits in 5 of his 9 starts.
Depends how far you go back. If they signed him last year you probably don't trade Edman for Fedde, probably don't sign one if Lynn or Gibson. Who would he have bumped from the rotation? They needed Libby to find himself. Heck, I’m looking for McGreevy to come up (after dumping 1-2 starters).
Hicks and Flaherty came from within. Why will future pitchers from our system be better?
