Re: Barrero for VSII This Evening
Probably as much about getting Berrero a start as it is getting Scott a day off. Two birds, one stone type a thing.
Scott could also have a bump or a bruise that wouldn't hurt from an extra day of rest.

That's what I get for listening to Brad Thompson.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 16:12 pmHe was more like the Reds version of Nolan Gorman. Walker was a top 5 prospect. Barrero got as high as 33 by Baseball America (they were the only publication to have him as a top 100 prospect though).blackinkbiz wrote: ↑12 May 2025 16:08 pmJust FYI, 5 years ago, Barrero was the Reds version of Jordan Walker, except he was an international signing as opposed to a top draft pick.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑12 May 2025 15:51 pmHe definitely looks like a guy who should be a star.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑12 May 2025 15:04 pmI agree with this.
I also really like having Barrero on the bench for his defensive flexibility and potential in his bat. I'll take Barrero over Siani any day of the week.
But, yea, I agree. I like the flexibility on defense and potential in the bat. I know he's never hit in the past, but when you look like a star and you were a former top prospect, it's hard for me to let that go. But for a guy who is 26th man off the bench and who can play basically anywhere except catcher (on a team with three of them), I like him.
So, apparently, someone thinks the ceiling is there...

I’m good w Scott sitting one day. He doesn’t need 162 starts in a row to know what we have.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑12 May 2025 15:04 pmI agree with this.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:53 pm I would prefer Scott. This is the season they are supposed to be seeing what they have in the young players see if scott is a guy who can play every day including against tough left handers. But I get starting Barero also so it doesnt really matter I would just rather see Scott in there. They just had a day off before the washington series and will have another day off after this series its not like he needs the day off

Also, with Walker struggling, Barrero on the roster makes much more sense than it did the first three weeks of April.

Who said anything about 162 in a row other than you? He had a day off started 3 gets another day off will start 2 then get another day off he doesn’t need that many days off. And no it was dumb to have Siani on the team out of spring and not Barrero but luckily Mo realized how dumb it was and sent Siani packing hes slow and stupid but he caught upecleme22 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 16:27 pmI’m good w Scott sitting one day. And Siani early in the season made sense since there was no lane of playing time. And, during that time, Barrero got a bunch of PAs in AAA to stay fresh

It was dumb then. Barrero isn’t going to replace Walker in right Hes going to get the same amount of playing time he would have early in the season I understand you defended it out of spring training and refuse to ever admit being wrong but it was dumb out of spring training a lot of people knew it and slow mo finally realized it also and fixed it. There was simply no PT available for Barrero at the beginning of the year. And, with Walker’s defense still a question, having Siani as a D replacement /PR made sense.
He’s already getting more PT than Siani

Re: Barrero for VSII This Evening
Why is he getting more playing time than siani? Oh yea because Barrero is an infielder also so of course he is more useful and would get more playing time so he is seeing the same amount of playing time as he would early in the season because he can play all three infield positions and all the infield positions and hes right handed which makes it even more dumb that Siani made the team over him. Siani didn’t get much playing time because he only played the outfield which limited his use. Like I said it was dumb at the beginning of the season dumb the whole time Siani was on the team Mo finally realized what others were saying that it was dumb and fixed it good for himecleme22 wrote: ↑12 May 2025 17:14 pmCalm down. I also really like having Barrero on the bench for his defensive flexibility and potential in his bat. I'll take Barrero over Siani any day of the week.
Also, with Walker struggling, Barrero on the roster makes much more sense than it did the first three weeks of April.
And Siani early in the season made sense since there was no lane of playing time. And, during that time, Barrero got a bunch of PAs in AAA to stay fresh
There was simply no PT available for Barrero at the beginning of the year. And, with Walker’s defense still a question, having Siani as a D replacement /PR made sense.
He’s already getting more PT than Siani
