Colorado has one of the most beautiful venues in all of American sports and the Monfort brothers have chosen to foul it up with a team that possesses exactly zero endearing qualities.

Oakland went through this a couple of times, at least in my lifetime, the first being in the late 70s when they were trying to move to Denver. Still, that 1979 team was 10 games better than CO at this juncture.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Jun 2025 11:21 amWhen ur talking history of an industry it’s drastic. And showing what great fans they have in Denver (I know, I once lived there) they're still drawing 27,621 per game/#16 in MLB, not far behind the Cardinals 29,443 per games/#13 in MLB.

UPDATE 6/14
Rockies today: 13-57 .186
.24 White Sox: 121 losses
'16 Athletics .235 win percentage
Rockies pace: 30-132
Rockies remaining pace to match loss record: 28-64 .304
Rockies remaining pace to match win percentage record: 25-67 .272
Record if they play .500 ball the rest of the way: 59-103 .364
Record required to avoid 100 losses: 50-42 .543 (88 win pace)

Hopefully they'll still be awful when we play them in July. I got tickets for the 23rd.

Yeah, I remember what the White Sox did to us last year. Speaking of which . . .Strummer Jones wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 18:58 pm Hopefully they'll still be awful when we play them in July. I got tickets for the 23rd.

Break up the Rockies, they've won two in a row, and are above .200 for the first time since April 13.
Don't worry, the Cards won't play them for over a month.

Antonio Senzatela has to be having one of the worst seasons ever. 1-10 record. 66 IP and 110 Hits!

Yea it probably is.ShakeyWalton wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 10:27 am Antonio Senzatela has to be having one of the worst seasons ever. 1-10 record. 66 IP and 110 Hits!
Some candidates I see:

As a sentimental favorite I submit what looks like will be Dakota Hudson's final year in the league last year:Futuregm2 wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 10:36 amYea it probably is.ShakeyWalton wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 10:27 am Antonio Senzatela has to be having one of the worst seasons ever. 1-10 record. 66 IP and 110 Hits!

2-12, 6.17 ERA, 5.53 FIP, and the elusive "more walks than strikeouts" threshold which it seems like he was always bound to achieve (50 BB/49 K)

Not to hijack the thread, but he's currently sporting a 7.20 ERA and 1.782 WHIP for the Angels AAA team, complete with giving up over 12 hits per 9

As to the years-long debate of how well he'll be able to outperform his FIP, if he never pitches again he will have left the league before his ERA can fully regress, although he ended up within a half-run: 4.21 ERA/4.77 FIP. I think one more full year would probably do it for full regression.

You'd think it'd be an attractive investment opportunity for some multi Billionaire or group out there.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Jun 2025 12:48 pm And showing what great fans they have in Denver (I know, I once lived there) they're still drawing 27,621 per game/#16 in MLB, not far behind the Cardinals 29,443 per games/#13 in MLB.
A buy low with the thought of the high potential later if you started building things up.
In 5 years you could be possibly be looking/trending pretty good.
The potential work stoppage coming up would add to the risk though.

Great sports city and fan support (Broncos hold the record for longest sellout streak in NFL history at 440 games since 1970)!
Cards were once "adopted" as Denver's team before the Roxs were awarded to them.
Wal-Mart heirs own the Broncos now.
Of course Stan Kroenke (another Wal-Mart married into heir) owns the Avs and Nuggets
Monfort is a total a z z wipe, he's hated but shows no sign of selling.
Maybe yet another WalMart heir will make him an offer he can't refuse.

First 58 games: 9 wins
Last 15 games: 7 wins
Rockies are almost .500 for the month of June sitting at 7-8. 5 of their 7 wins this month have come vs the Marlins and Nats who are a combined 59-85. Still, it’s been a good month for the Rockies. Their first 2 winning streaks of 2025 have come in this month.
