This idiots lineup today:

NootbaarRF
WinnSS
DonovanLF
Arenado3B
Contreras, Wn1B
BurlesonDH
Gorman2B
Pagés, C
Scott IICF

The idiot sits I. Hererra to play Bumbles.

MORON

(And even if Bumbles goes 4-4 it's still the wrong move sitting Hererra)
The only way to explain this is if Herrera still needs some occasional rest with the knee. Otherwise he needs to be in the lineup every day, period.
I thought possibly the same thing. His knee may have been a tad sore this morning ? It's easy to rake Oli over the coals for 'sitting' him but if Herrera told Oli /trainers it was a bit tender yet , no way Oli is going to play him. So I won't condemn the manager without knowing the situation.
We may still see Hererra in a pinch hitting role at a crucial time of the game today. It doesn't mean he won't make a plate appearance later in the game.
In fact being a pinch hitter would clearly indicate a good knee; no pinch hit? Wonder why.

Burleson isnt the problem. Gorman is the problem.

Id rather have Burleson in LF, Herrera at DH, and Donovan at 2nd

And with 4 of the next 7 games after today being vs LHP where Burleson won’t play at all (or shouldn’t), it’s ok with me. Otherwise, Marmol continues to be dumb, which is certainly a possibility.

Hopefully we jump on the pitcher and it won’t matter. He hasn’t been any good this year. He’s given up 8+ hits in 3 of his 7 starts and 5+ hits in 6 of his 7 starts.
Easing Herrera back in does make some sense.
And Burleson has swung the bat better lately plus RH pitcher on the mound.
Won’t react to one game!
Agree with the 'easing Herrera back makes sense ' thing. Just because he is back after an extended injury , it is a requirement to play him every single game. If Herrera played today and was held out Sunday , some on CT would be grousing tomorrow that 'Oli held him out ' .
Players are like race horses. When they are returning from an injury you must be cautious using them full bore . Heck , look at the Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty . That trainer/owner won't run that horse in the Preakness next week as they feel running him two weeks later is problematic.
He will run next in the Belmont. Each horse (and player ) you have to treat on case by case basis.

That might be the lineup with the highest upside in this game, might.

IF both Gorman and Walker are both on the roster then they should play.
We can debate that but they are here today.
Today Walker sits.

Its pretty obvious that Herrera and Walker will play against lefties, and Gorman and Burly against righties.

+1 it’s dumb Herrera hits right handers better than burly but all oli see is right and left handed
And I posted that for shaddy in another thread when he claimed Bumbles hit RHP:

Hererra Career vs RHP:
243 PA
.311 .386 .448 .834

Burleson Career vs RHP:
925 PA
.268 .320 .421 .741

Burleson this season vs RHP:
.276 .317 .378 .695

Hererra blows him away vs RHP.

I would think DH-ing he should be ready for everyday duty.

This (IMO) is just Oli stubbornly clinging to Bumbles who we all know is one of his favorites.

If he had his way, then M. Siani would be in CF and VSII maybe in Memphis.

I'm not buying that unless it's being reported

And you know it's not beetching when Oli makes a moron move like this starting Bumbles at DH instead of Ivan.

Ok

Zero reporting from J. Denton or D. Gould on "X" that Hererra's knee is aching.

Just another moronic lineup move by Oli, the King of the stupid lineups. :x

And that’s what makes it so obviously dumb herrera hits much better against right handers than burly but olis iPad tells him lefties play against righties and righties play against lefties so that’s what he has to do. Hes an idiot

Not here to grumble or be negative. With all due respect to the previous posters who all have legitimate points to make. But I see we are in second place 2 games behind the Cubs. I actually enjoy watching these younger guys play the game. Am I delusional?! It might be fun to watch the Cardinals this year. Hope so. It's been a while.
