Walker vs. Kyrou

Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
Let me associate the OP thought to another similar player, Sammy Blais. All teams need a guy like Blais or Walker. Guys who use the shift of attention off them and put up points when the other team shifts to pressure on the star players. I do want to not look like I am trying to lower the value of these players. They are great hard working players. I feel we seem to forget they are in the NHL. When given an opportunity they will make the best of it. It is a team sport. If the other team overfocuses on the first line we win when the other lines take advantage of those opportunities.

Oh yeah.....I'd trade Parayko and Kyrou for that.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑02 May 2025 08:56 amI’d trade him for Brandon Tanev just for the team pics.
Additionally, Tanev couldn’t be mean to Schenn either if he was on our team.

Connor McDavid has 2 goals this post season, Walker has 2 goals. Trade straight up?
Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
You’re kidding right? McDavid is producing WAY more valuable minutes while being focused on…(2) goals was not meant to be the bench mark…but you notice McDavid and quite frankly Walker playing playoff hockey…I only have noticed Kyrou at the National Anthems…that’s the point…he needs to fight through the coverage and/or attention posters think he is getting…and will his way into the playoff fight…otherwise…the Blues will not advance. He’s one of our best players…and he can’t disappear in the playoff battle.the miracle wrote: ↑02 May 2025 10:45 am Connor McDavid has 2 goals this post season, Walker has 2 goals. Trade straight up?

He might not be allowed back in the country, for his own safety!
Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
Schenn has points in 1 of 5 games.
I like Schenn for what he brings, but Kyrou needs a better C option obviously

Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
wait....are you suggesting that scoring wingers aren't helping their team unless they take penalties? or were you kidding?
just curious if people know how many PIM and hits Connor has in this series? I wonder if Jets fans are like some Blues fans and say "he has no intensity; we should trade him for another grinder"
in general, I agree that Kyrou needs to produce more...but I mean goals, scoring chances and offensive pressure (not hits and penalties). Get the puck in middle areas and shoot. That whole Schenn line has been bad. Combined -11. They had a good game 4, especially Neighbors, but overall only 4 goals and 45 shot attempts. We're getting O from the D and the special teams have been good, but we need production from the 2nd line.

I think the inference is that if a player with Kyrou's talent and, especially, his all-world speed hasn't "battled" hard for the puck, he will not take any penalties. It's about the level of compete—especially the "playoff competition intensity."Rickster wrote: ↑02 May 2025 14:18 pmwait....are you suggesting that scoring wingers aren't helping their team unless they take penalties? or were you kidding?

Kyrou is playing it waaaay to cool right now., There is no room for any cutesie moves these days... unless he fight hard for it. And we are NOT seeing that these days.
Where is Bortuzzo, when you really need him to fire someone up?
Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
Schenn brings a lot. He’s very valuable and those hits are in his DNA. But he’s a 2-3 winger or 3 C. At 2 C I’m not a fan.

Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
3-2 for Walker now.
Kyrou with 4:30 to go in the 3rd had a chance to negate icing and didn’t look to even take the couple strides he needed to. Icing gets called and the next play Thomas takes a penalty. Turned out fine but those are the little plays that can turn a game or series in the playoffs.

That was a new low for Jordan Kyrou this season.
It was… despicable.
He has regressed, most terribly..
He can still pot two goals on any given shift. So, there’s that.

Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
I just rewatched the play and the whistle went with 4:28 to go. At one point the D was skating backwards and had to pivot. It looked to me to be an easy win for Kyrou if he went hard for the puck. Not sure if he thought he had the D beat or not. Next shift with his line on the ice they had Torpo in his spot.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑02 May 2025 23:54 pmBluesfan1978 wrote: ↑02 May 2025 22:01 pm 3-2 for Walker now.

This is why I laugh when people say they would not trade Kyrou for Brady straight up. Regular season is one thing, playoffs are a whole different beast.

Re: Walker vs. Kyrou
I would 100% shop Kyrou. On a team without stars you can't have any passengers. Looking at how Jimmy Snuggerud plays kind of confirms that to me that Kyrou is just missing something. I do think he improved this year and increased his trade value but unless he's willing to take that next step to be able to make a difference in a series like this you need to shop him. In a one for one swap of the same position id take back a player thats a 20-25 goal score, 50-60 point player that has that added 2 way play and won't disappear in the playoffs. I was always told if you aren't scoring you need to bring something else to help the team win. Ive personally been critical of Buch and Thomas before of not being physical enough at times but both those guys have stepped up this series.
