They are a fine core…can be your 1,2, 5,6,7 hitters for years. But without true middle of the order bats to go with them it doesn’t matter much. If Gorman and Walker don’t figure it out in a big way this season Bloom is going to have to spend big money to field a contending team. Hope he does.
I think Walker and Gorman can't be counted on to become that. Bloom is going to have to spend some money on a couple of pieces. If Walker and Gorman end up becoming that, then just a bonus.

Its hard to say what exactly their value is. But this team has a serious lack of top end talent and I don't think anyone on this team should be untradeable. We're a few years away from being a serious contender.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 15:34 pmBoth show signs of years of big league talent and presently , cost controlled talent. If you were to move either of them tomorrow who would you want in return?
Not if they offload Arenado then take payroll back up to 180-200 million for 2026.alw80 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 16:01 pmIts hard to say what exactly their value is. I'm not basing it on who's hot and who's not. As I stated...it's based upon...imadangman wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:55 pm People ask this question every week and it's always different answers based on who's hot
More realistically, just add one Kyle and hope JJ Wetherholt is ready to produce in 2026.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 15:11 pmAdd a couple of Kyle’s - Tucker and Schwarber - and the offense competes with anyone. Who makes up the starting rotation? Do Gorman or Walker have enough value left to net a decent starting pitcher?Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:57 pmYep, exactly. And nothing wrong with that. Donovan 2B
Saggesse 3B
Scott Cf
Winn Ss
SP: Gray, Pallante, Libby, ???, ???
Scott looks like a completely different player in the box this year...credit to him for the change...his confidence is only going to get better...he's a player....can go it in center...speed...Futuregm2 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:31 pmWinn for sure is IMOMonsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:25 pm Both are young. Both are well above average defensively. Both are extremely fast and potential base stealers. Both keep improving at the dish.
Sure, in theory no one is untouchable. But realistically thinking...these guys have to be regarded as untouchable, don't they?
Anyone else? Maybe Libby & Pallante? Maybe Noot? Thoughts?
Scott is probably close to it. He’s showing he might be like Winn last year.
Libby needs to continue pitching like he has been, but I would say he’s a guy you’re trying to keep.
Noot should be in line for an extension. Donovan as well, although I’m less likely to give him one IMO because of our MIF depth in the organization and he’s slightly older than Noot.
This team would look so much better if one of Walker or Gorman could produce.
You may be, but I agree that many on CT are fickle on this topic and so many others.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 16:16 pmI'm not basing it on who's hot and who's not.
