Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
Both are young. Both are well above average defensively. Both are extremely fast and potential base stealers. Both keep improving at the dish.
Sure, in theory no one is untouchable. But realistically thinking...these guys have to be regarded as untouchable, don't they?
Anyone else? Maybe Libby & Pallante? Maybe Noot? Thoughts?

Add Donovan and Herrera to the list as a core to build around.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:25 pm Both are young. Both are well above average defensively. Both are extremely fast and potential base stealers. Both keep improving at the dish.

Where are Walker and Gorman in this conversation? Disappointing.

I don't think anyone should ever be untouchable but the asking price should probably be at a teams puke point

Winn for sure is IMOMonsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:25 pm Both are young. Both are well above average defensively. Both are extremely fast and potential base stealers. Both keep improving at the dish.

Scott is probably close to it. He’s showing he might be like Winn last year.
Libby needs to continue pitching like he has been, but I would say he’s a guy you’re trying to keep.
Noot should be in line for an extension. Donovan as well, although I’m less likely to give him one IMO because of our MIF depth in the organization and he’s slightly older than Noot.
This team would look so much better if one of Walker or Gorman could produce.

I'm not sure Hurdy Gurdy is untouchable. Not saying we should trade him, but for the right package, he's definitely someone I could see leaving.sp25 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:27 pmAdd Donovan and Herrera to the list as a core to build around.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:25 pm Both are young. Love Herrera. Well, love his bat.

Can we wait until closer to trade deadline to decide?

Noot
Donny
Winn
VSII
Herrera
You build around that core.
Gorman & Walker could force their way in but thus far they haven't.

No one is untouchable.
But the only acceptable packages for either should make them nearly so excepting a lunatic GM falling in love.

Winn, Scott, Donovan. Maybe Noot and Herrera. They are a fine core…can be your 1,2, 5,6,7 hitters for years. But without true middle of the order bats to go with them it doesn’t matter much. If Gorman and Walker don’t figure it out in a big way this season Bloom is going to have to spend big money to field a contending team. Hope he does.

People ask this question every week and it's always different answers based on who's hot

Yep, exactly. And nothing wrong with that. Teams SHOULD have a couple of big money bashers in their lineup.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:53 pm Winn, Scott, Donovan. Maybe Noot and Herrera. I think Walker and Gorman can't be counted on to become that. Bloom is going to have to spend some money on a couple of pieces. If Walker and Gorman end up becoming that, then just a bonus.
Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
Walker and Gorman never will become 4 hole hitters
Gorman swing and pitch recognition is better than Walkers and that’s not saying much
Scott is remarkable at plate from last year , whoever worked with him much praise deserved, kids a keeper
Winn just keeps on keeping on
I say they are untouchable , at least for this team

At least noone has asked if Miles is untouchable. If they do, we need to try to have them commitedimadangman wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:55 pm People ask this question every week and it's always different answers based on who's hot
Re: Are Winn & Scott untouchable?
Add a couple of Kyle’s - Tucker and Schwarber - and the offense competes with anyone. Who makes up the starting rotation? Do Gorman or Walker have enough value left to net a decent starting pitcher?Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 14:57 pmYep, exactly. And nothing wrong with that. It’s a reset. So far they pass the test.
