This is my 70th season as a Cardinals fan; I'll be 75 end of the month. The only thing I hate more than an off-day is the off-season.
Over the years I've seen high-highs and low-lows. I've also been treated to 9 WS's and we won 4 of 'em. Many times, especially during down years, I felt like giving up on a lost season but never could. Can't not watch, won't stop caring, it's in my DNA and like 2011 taught us, you never know.
The personal attacks in CT are pointless. Three suggestions.
- If you don't like a post, respond, ignore but stop the condescending and smarmy personal assaults.
- If you don't like a poster, respond, ignore or don't read but spare us the petty attacks and piling on.
- If you don't like me, respond, ignore, or don't read.
Most posters have insightful takes or pose interesting questions. I like learning from different perspectives.
A recent post was titled something like 'It's hard to be a Cardinals fan in recent years''. True enough. The steady decline over the past decade from FO arrogance, unforced errors, mismanagement and indifference is hard to endure. But thoughtful fans know how lucky we are as Cardinals fans. I live in Oregon but was born and raised in the StL. I'll always be proud of that, even in years when watching the Cards feels like punishment.
So, enjoy the game tonight, and for those self-appointed guardians of baseball truth, consider a tall glass of ice-cold shut the fork up at the ready.
You made some very good suggestions. There seem to be many smart posters on CT that, unfortunately, thrive on personal attacks. It's baffling.
Yes. It's entirely baffling that a man in his mid-70s who was banned from The Cardinal Nation and has received numerous timeouts here could have his aberrant behavior noted. I just don't get people these days.
This is a prime example. As I posted, "There seem to be many smart posters on CT that, unfortunately, thrive on personal attacks. It's baffling".
Please don't make me bring up the sordid nature of your old sock handles. I'm trying to be nice. Don't push it.
I should add, besides thriving on personal attacks. Some are simply delerious in their accusations.
Robert M. Shelton, Wally Butterworth. Both racist sock handles you used to agree with yourself. It's a widely known fact. I told you not to push it but you couldn't help yourself.
A prime example of delirious, irrational thinking. It's totally uncalled for. Please don't embarrass yourself this way. I'm done responding to such nonsense.

For the record, I have never been banned from anything, never received a time-out other than for talking too much in elementary school, and have never been guilty or accused of aberrant behavior. Someone has me confused with someone else.
My post was simply a request and an experiment. A request to dial it back a notch. And a experiment to see what I'd get for if I dared to ask. Ouch.
The final piece was a joke.
Tough room.

Thank you for this, Oregon. The attackers are mainly seeking attention. The best antidote is to ignore them.

Good Post OP.
Sadly will Fall on Deaf Ears with most on here.
Many over the years have expressed similar thoughts as yourself. All in Vain I might add.
I have made serious strides in not responding to posts that may have annoyed me in the past. Yet, I do find myself having to go back into the gutter to take some swipes from time to time. There is only so much [nonsense] one can listen to. Need to call it out on occasion..especially when the Paid Propagandists are out at in force.

A slight correction. If you’ve been a fan that long, you’ve seen 10 World Series and five titles (‘64, ‘67, ‘82, ‘06 and ‘11).

Some posters aren't happy unless they're attacking -
1.) Cardinals ownership
2.) Cardinals POBO
3.) Cardinals on field management/coaches
4.) Other posters
And not necessarily in that order.

Some facts. Not personal attacks.
1. Last I saw, you had 9 FB accounts.
2. You were kicked off The Cardinal Nation for the very behavior so many of us detest and have asked you to stop.
3. You tried to bring your Wally sock to TCN, but he got booted.
4. You started a new TCN sock, Sanusual6, a couple months back which was quickly booted.
5. You had racist socks like Wally Butterworth & Robert Shelton.
6. You have permanently left and returned to this forum several times.
7. You have admitted you understand you shouldn't start the same thread daily, yet you still do it.
8. You and your socks often have conversations with each other. It's embarrassing.
It's not Card's Talk posters who are the problem, it's you. Look in the mirror. Make a change. Not a personal attack, just some facts!

Why in the world would you end a post that advocates to stop condescending assaults and attacks with negative, insulting language? The irony is incredible.
