Yeah we know. 12 pts in his last 9-10 games even plus minus . You and 80% of the fan base. Last in the league in scoring let’s trade offense. Great idea.

You just can’t make this stuff up
You honestly can’t make this stuff up. You’ve got an eight-million-a-year player who decides to start playing after 50 games.

If Kyrou brought this level of effort 90% of the time, every game, I’d have zero issues — everyone has the odd off night. But for [fork]’s sake, look at the pattern. He does this every year: cruises for months, then suddenly flips the switch when the season’s almost over.

That’s not coincidence, that’s who he is. And that’s exactly why fans are fed up.
He also disappears in the playoffs.
Tied for 2nd and 1st in goals the last two appearances, so not not really.
I guess you didn't watch the series against the jets last year.
Who had more goals than he did? I’ll wait….
He scored a few goals when they were up 5-1. How clutch. LOL

The Blues didnt lose that game bc Kyrou whiffed a pass with 30 seconds to go with nobody in front of the net.

We outshot them. Controlled the 3rd period. Just couldn't finish. We got goalied late. BJs scored a 4 pack and made our defense and goaltending look pedestrian in period 1 and 2.

Snuggs goal will be a highlight for a long, long time. Looking forward to seeing more of that next game.

And Thomas was playing hurt all season? Shocker. Team really relied on him more than I thought they did.

Good point here.

I'll just speak for myself, but a main argument to what you are saying is that we need Kyrou (and Thomas) to be clutch game-winners.

Thomas is pretty much there, but maybe a tier below what we'd like (and maybe he still has room to grow at only 26?).

Kyrou needs to be more of a "can all of a sudden score" threat who gets hot for 20 games a year to pad his stats and wins a game or two for us when we're already desperate or out of playoff contention. The issue is that instead of being cool and the guy who we want with the puck with less than a minute remaining who the opponent can't handle, he defers and is more of a secondary or tertiary part of the play.

I will say, even at his contract amount going forward, he could still be useful if we had other players who fit this mold of a clutch/leader/gamer type. I do think we have a few in the system. Right now I would take Berggren and Stenberg over Kyrou late in the game, or at least wouldn't dispute it.

But hey, next game Kyrou will probably have a hat trick to help us improve to 21 wins on the season at the 56 game mark

We'd all love to have the do it all player in that situation. Thomas is absolutely a playmaker, but hes not in there. Stenberg is hockey smart, but hes what, 20? Also in the minors rn. Schenn won the draw and hes not it. Snuggy is a young shooter and Suter was net front. I dont think they had a playmaker in there?

Theres 11 players stuffed in the offensive zone. Not a ton of room. Everything has to happen fast or the other team needs to be tired so you can hem them in. Everyone on the perimeter. Two or three passes and it didnt look set up correctly. We didnt generate a shot, turned it over, they scored. Weve seen this at least 5 or 6 times already this season.

Im just not going to look at another one of these 30 second 6 on 5s with poor team execution as the reason the Blues lost, and then blame Kyrou for all of it. Are we sure Eric Brewer isnt out there? 91? Its just hatred at this point.

Oh I agree, and that's not what I'm trying to do here. My point is more that Kyrou and Thomas signed big long term deals that kind of hemmed us in and solidified them as our top forward core players. Expectations were that they were going to grow into elite players. Thomas is very close... Kyrou shows flashes. Both have put up points. Several coaches later, I think I'm not alone in concluding my assessment that Kyrou will never be the player to lean on, but more of a nice complementary piece who has rounded out his game over the years. That's why I think we trade him to a team in better position while he's got value on his contract and we build around this new core.
