Re: LUCIC
I want Lucic to enjoy being a St.Louis Blue and I welcome what he brings. I'm not expecting him to take care of everything when there's rough stuff. But I also know that he does bring a reputation that garners respect. That's important, but he is also an NHL player who's earned his stripes. If he plays like he wants to be here, I'm looking forward to having him.

Re: LUCIC
It'll be interesting to see what they do next week to get cap compliant. If they part ways with Lucic and send down Dvorsky then all they really need to do is a paper transaction of Snuggerud to Springfield for a day while they put Krug on LTIR.seattleblue wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 12:47 pm Exactly, you can see the 8 players in the top 9 for sure with this lineup. Neighbours Suter and somebody else for line 3.
Joseph, Sundqvist, Toropchenko, Bjugstad, Walker, Texier, Lucic
Dvorsky
They want all these 15 forwards to be available to them, plus Dvorsky. Likely send Dvorsky down whether it's for a few games or just a paper transaction to get past the opening day marker since he's exempt from waivers. Remember there's the whole Krug situation where he has to be on the roster of 23 before being LTIR'd.
Unless Texier can actually do something, besides embody underwhelmingness, I personally am ready for him to be somewhere else. I want a team tough enough as a group without needing staged fights from a problematic slow version of Quasimodo which in no way deters targeted cheap shots. If it did deter them then it would make sense. But that's not how it actually works, having watched the theory be tested for decades. But I acknowledge they think that's still important to have. I just don't like buying into a plainly false theory that Lucic is needed for anything.
If they want to sign Lucic and/or intend to give Dvorsky a look on that 3rd line out of the gate then they'll have to put Tex or Joseph (or both) on waivers. Personally I think Joseph still brings something to the team with his all-around game, even if he is overpaid. I just don't see it anymore with Texier.

Re: LUCIC
I don’t get the impression that they care about losing texier to waivers. Monty seemed to have no use for him last year and I haven’t heard anyone mention him as a standout in camp so far this year.bluetunehead wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 13:12 pmIt'll be interesting to see what they do next week to get cap compliant. Re: LUCIC
He's the obvious candidate to be put on waivers if needed. He just doesn't bring much. We have better options for the Top 9 and he doesn't play a 4th line game. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 13:17 pmI don’t get the impression that they care about losing texier to waivers. Re: LUCIC
It will be super easy to get cap compliant. But Seattle is correct in that the opening roster will include Krug. Expect guys like Snuggerud and Mailloux to perhaps technically not make the team but then recalled the next day. They’re waiver exempt so that’s the benefit the Blues have to play with things to make sure they’re under the Cap. They did the same thing with Neighbours a year ago.bluetunehead wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 13:12 pmIt'll be interesting to see what they do next week to get cap compliant. Re: LUCIC
Heard JR on BK and Ferrario, as I’m sure others did, and he certainly made it sound like the players want and expect Lucic to be on this team. In that regard, if the players want it, then I’m all for it. He won’t be expensive and he won’t be expected to carry a heavy workload - in terms of TTOI - so if it doesn’t work ya cut bait and move on.
I think it’s clear too that he won’t play at the expense of a DD or a ‘insert other young player who is on the cusp’ and that’s important too.

Re: LUCIC
If he does make the team, I hope he gets rid of that #12 (doesn't fit him)
He needs to take #27 or maybe Fowler will go with his old #4 and let Lucic have his preferred #17
