I would classify a “stud” as an “elite” prospect.
Now.....who are going to give up to get BOTH of those prospects???
Helsley could get both with the right trading partner in need of a closer to make a deep run.
evidence? Please, give us the evidence.
Right now, Helsley would be rental for any team, and he's having a very bad year, and an extremely bad stretch of games. He wouldn't get both, probably wouldn't get either one.
You said the same 2 years ago with Dylan Carlson. Then you said the same about Arenado for 6 straight months last year...daily.
Hmm whom said trade Hesley while his value is highest?

Reasonable OP.
The plan was to rid /sell Goldie Mik and Matz. One happened. The plan is still to sell Mik and Matz. Both will bring a nice prospect under blooms guys.
Then, off season add one big bat. Left or third. Play. Off season 2026 add TOR starter. League level.
2027- power house.
Patience men.
How will that fit into the budget, Dawg?
I see you're still on the job cranny, BDWJr's chief wallet protector.
BTW, the 2026 "budget" needs to be in the $175-180M range.
If our budget goes up to that with cuts and trades, I easily see us relevant in 2027.
Beyond Walker. Five key players development for that to happen. Wetherholt, Saggese, Mathews, Roby and Hence.
Really hate to count on walker, he does nothing well
If you are curious about the reason for your unpopularity on this board here is Exhibit A. Creating sock puppets and having conversations with yourself is pathetic and annoying. Knock it off.
you obviously have me mixed up with someone else, it appears that you may be a special needs person,
You are dealing with one of the many suffering from SDS. Shady Derangement Syndrome. It's like talking to a fence post.
I am beginning to think you must have slept with most of their wives and girlfriends
Shady, my wife is nearing the end of a long battle with cancer, you pathetic piece of s---.
I am very sorry to learn that about your wife. Cancer is horrible. I'll try to reason with you again. I am not Honky Tonk Man. He is not me. Nor did I have any racist socks. People need to consider how fragile life is before they harass others on a message board.

To summarize this 7 page OP:
With only a few exceptions pretty much EVERY GM in baseball is looking for a “stud pitcher” AND a “power bat”.
Good luck Bloom/MO!!!
Wait, those guys don't grow on trees? lol
Realistically, trying to trade for prospects that turn into those types is more possible, but again like you said, good luck, lots of misses in the process.

There you are the answer right before you. Every body wants that guy. How do you get him?
Money boys. Sweet and simple.
We could do it, just gotta spend.

Some have the speed of trees, like Burleson.

Risk may be too high signing a FA to a huge long term contract. Better doing it with a trade or shorter term deal with an older player (ala Beltran and Berkman).

Didn’t say anything about long term. I agree. Mucho risk. If you look at who is successful in baseball, they spend. Very few who are cheaper do as well consistently.
We don’t need to go to 200 or 300 M payroll, but we gotta have enough cash to play the game.
For instance- Kyle Tucker. We could have had that. That’s what I mean. It’s not the spending it’s what you buy.
