Choke by Blaze

Post by RoyceR »

Blaze choked a hard grounder and Reds prevailed. The guy is not and everyday player. This was routine grounder hit hard but one that needs tv made and he failed .

That may be true, but why didn't they walk Elly and set up the DP. Dumb.

need to ride the season out with Gormon and send Blaze down.

Gorman is terrible at the plate but at least in AAA he has increased his walks and home runs by a lot. .789 ops.

111mph off the bat - I'm pretty sure that people that have played would NOT call that routine.

Beat me to it. I was going to say that I’m not sure Scott Rolen nabs that with a short hop. That was about as close to unplayable as it gets IMO

It's AAA. The guy is hitting .186 in AAA! Where Blaze hit .313 with a .921 OPS.

Blaze didn’t lose the game. At least he got a clutch hit.
Too many weak AB’s with RISP.
Probably should have walked Elly to set up the DP anyway.

Cardinals will need to work on a better third base solution going forward into next year. They appear to have the prospects to get something done.
