Said he's 6'4" and 203 now. Gained 5 lbs this offseason. Working on his speed and skating as well and uses the reverse hit to create space.
He has the same skating coach as Carbo. Said Carbo is a one of a kind and has worked hard this offseason.
Played with Lawrence at u18's and said he's a bulldog, good passer and has a good shot and high motor and is easy to play with.

What are the chances they all hit, and are all on our second line in 3 years? How sweet would that be!

So long as he finds a productive role on the team I won't, but if Belchetz is a 30 goal Tkachuk power forward I'll always be PO'd.

They are high end prospects thats for sure, pretty good chance Dvorsky, Jiricek, Carbs, Stenberg, Lindstein, Lawrence, Dagenias are all very productive NHLersArmy's Mom wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 10:01 am What are the chances they all hit, and are all on our second line in 3 years? I agree with most of that except Stenberg. Productive is subjective, but I think he’s a little overrated, especially those thinkin he’s a 25 goal 50 point player in his prime. It’d be awesome if he is, but I see him as a useful defensive player who can pot 15 goals a season on average and 20 assists. Useful 3rd liner, but nowhere in the same zipcode as his brother. Which is fine, all teams need a few of them types, preferably with more size.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 10:23 amThey are high end prospects thats for sure, pretty good chance Dvorsky, Jiricek, Carbs, Stenberg, Lindstein, Lawrence, Dagenias are all very productive NHLersArmy's Mom wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 10:01 am What are the chances they all hit, and are all on our second line in 3 years? Kind of quasi-related, but I played this game with Klim Kostin and Eeli Tolvanen for several years. Tolvanen is who I wanted the Blues to draft, but the Predators took him at number 30, and we took Kostin with the 31st pick. Tolvanen has carved out a nice career and is still putting up decent numbers for the Kraken, while Klostin is toiling away in Russia. Thankfully I stopped playing the comparison game a few years ago...TBone wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 10:22 amI hate that me (and others) are going to play the "what's he done compared to Ethan Belchetz?" game with him.Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 06:43 am https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlPav_msZd4

I’ll be playing that game with Suvanto. He’s who I wanted after the trade of 15 and 29. I think he ends up being a stud.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 11:12 amKind of quasi-related, but I played this game with Klim Kostin and Eeli Tolvanen for several years. Not to call you out personally at all, but only to react to your anecdote: Would 2017-You have been happy with the career Tolvanen has had compared to your expectations?sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 11:12 amKind of quasi-related, but I played this game with Klim Kostin and Eeli Tolvanen for several years. The reason I ask is everyone is guilty of looking at a draft and falling in love with the description or even the tape they view of a prospect, but often it's the potential we adore, and the actual career compared to that is a little less than expected. For instance, I believed Tarasenko would be the next Kovalchuk. He didn't get to that level, but in 2010 I'd be disappointed to learn that.
I wonder how we'll feel if Belchetz is only a 25-30 goal power forward regardless of what Dagenais does.

Re: Hockey Sense Maddox Dagenais
It's a fair question - Tolvanen came out of the gates pretty hot from ages 18-22ish, and I had higher expectations for him, but he plateaued a bit after that. So yes, I would probably be a little bit disappointed based on those expectations. I do think that he's put together a pretty decent career for a 30th overall pick, however. Better than Kostin!DoneLurking wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 12:15 pmNot to call you out personally at all, but only to react to your anecdote: Would 2017-You have been happy with the career Tolvanen has had compared to your expectations?sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 11:12 amKind of quasi-related, but I played this game with Klim Kostin and Eeli Tolvanen for several years. Re: Hockey Sense Maddox Dagenais
The question should be "what happens of McT doesn't deliver more than sub 20 goals and around 50 points per?" I don't mind the Lawrence pick, but I'd rather have Lawrence/Klepov/Belchetz/Hextall than Lawrence/Dagenais and McT...I'm in a "I'll wait, but right now I'm not liking it" mode as of now. Also would have rather turned those pair of 3rds into something else instead of one season of Carlo. Its clear the Blues are gonna try to win in the next 4 seasons because after that the top 4 of Thomas, Buch, McT, and Holloway go UFA after Year 5 and if they aren't close they gotta sell before that happens. After next season Krug comes off the books, Suter is gone, Binnington is gone, I can see them moving Torop, Carlo is gone, so they'll have some $$$ to play with on whether to sign Neighbours or just let him go Offer Sheet. Hofer will need to be paid and depending on this season will decide how much.
Its gonna be an interesting back half of the 2020s.

Re: Hockey Sense Maddox Dagenais
When comparing Belchetz to Dagenais it sounded like two guys with question marks. The knock on Belchetz is a lot of people aren’t sure of him becoming a physical force. More like a big guy that can score, but may not be physically what some had hoped. Whereas there is less concern about Dagenais being a physical presence. There is little doubt he will be physical, the question is can he put up points? I heard one of the prospect gurus on the NHL Network say before the draft that if Dagenais had played the first half of the season the way he played from December on he would have been slotted by most over Belchetz. Time will tell.

Re: Hockey Sense Maddox Dagenais
I’m at peace with the pick of Dagenais. I like his physicality and if Big Walt thinks this guy is capable of putting up 40, then I have no reason to believe he’s at least capable of 30.
I was hoping for a Brady Tkachuk-light, a Tom Wilson type, a better Kiefer Sherwood, who could put up +60 points, put up +200 Hits, abuse defenseman physically create space and tip in pucks, protect our skill guys, and pummel anyone on the opposing Top 6.
Whether his name is Ethan Belchetz or Maddox Dagenais, I just want the results. A plus for Dagenais is his dad was in the NHL. I liked his interview at the draft. Seems like a good dude. I’m good with Maddog

We’ve got some weird GOT/LOTR voodoo starting here and he needs to get with the program.
