For those watching the game, McGreevy is giving an in-game interview. In discussing Baez being just 23 and being in pro ball at 18. McGreevy said he told Dobbins that if he went to pro ball straight out of high school he would probably be out of baseball now.
I thought that was an interesting take/honest thought. I wonder how many guys drafted out of high school that failed out, could have become good MLB players if they went to college for a few years first.
Michael will be in the booth somewhere whenever his career is over, very well spoken and interesting.

That struck me as a very interesting comment as well. Seemed very sincere and it could probably apply to several players.

I would imagine that's the reason w lot of guys don't take the chunk of money coming out of high school.

I thought the same thing. I was surprised by how thoughtful and comfortable he was in that interview. I think the team has very polished young players in terms of media relations. Their minor league instructors seem to have that part of player development down pat, examples being Walker, JJW and McGreevy.Adam2 wrote: ↑17 Aug 2026 13:45 pm For those watching the game, McGreevy is giving an in-game interview.
