Cards 3-12 Since Blowing 7-0 Lead.

Post by sikeston bulldog2 »

Good morning.

Most to many say a crippling loss has no lingering effects. There are times one could argue otherwise.

This stretch. Arizona reds cubs Angels

Any thoughts.

Yeah, always looking for the game that turns the momentum toward the Cards, but in this case I think you have pinpointed the game that turned the tide downward for the Cards. They had bounced back all season after bad losses, but this demoralizing loss looks like the leak that sunk their 2026 hopes.

But of course, a 10 game winning streak would again greatly change the outlook ............. OK, how bout a 9 out of 10 stretch?

I think the players realized they were going nowhere with that bullpen and have packed it in as a team. They are focused now on their own stats rather than winning which has resulted in horrendous at bats swinging at everything,

my thinking is that since that dreadful loss, they have only scored more than 3 runs in TWO games out of those 13 games, and they lost one of them. They did win a 1-0 game at LAA, and a 3-2 game with the cubs, but far too often, their pitching will not perform well enough to allow the team to win with such poor offense.

Bad offense and bad relief pitching are the main culprits in this recent slump.
