Ten Games Since Lineup Shakeup
2-8
In today’s game our #2 hitter, Walker, had 5 ABs with 2 hits. He came to the plate 4 times with nobody on. The other time JJ was on first and was CS while Walker was at bat.
Ivan hitting 4th batted 4 times with 1 hit. The hit came the only time he batted with nobody on. In his other 3 ABs, there were 5 runners on. Twice he batted with 2 runners (Walker, Burly) on and once with Burly on.
I’m not picking on Ivan and today was just one day but I don’t recall many Walker ABs with runners on since the change. Before the change roughly 100 games in we were 3 over (better than almost everyone thought we’d be) and solidly in WC race. The JJ, Ivan, Burly, Walker order was working. Walker was leading NL in RBI.
What was the reasoning behind the change? What did they think they were going to accomplish? How long are they going to continue with it?

Didn’t Pujols bat second sometimes? I didn’t like that either.

They scored 32 runs in the 10 games prior to the lineup changes.
They've scored 30 runs in the last 10 games since the lineup changes.
Maybe the lineup just sucks and it really doesn't matter where any of these guys are hitting. I think the last clutch hit from this offense was like 3 months ago. It's bad.

Goldschmidt did. Don't remember Albert doing it in his prime.

Oli, the dumb (XXX), changed the lineup from a lineup that had them 5 games over .500 at the All-Star break. It has been apparent that this change has been a disaster, and yet Oli can't seem to figure this out.

Oli had no valid reason to switch Walker and Herrera

Anything possible to never hold the players responsible it is always the managers fault.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2026 17:37 pm They scored 32 runs in the 10 games prior to the lineup changes.

Wish Oli leave Walker at 4 and if a lefty is pitching he could move him up to 3.
Also was hoping Torres and Velazquez could be utilized more.
Church has turned in to Scott 2.0
Winn should be batting 8th or 9th

Walker has the most hits on the team an this gets him an extra at bat per game. If it doesn't work out or is flawed then that's a fair point. To act like Oli is dumb and came up with this based off of no logic isn't at all true. TLR did this all the time and I guarantee a lot of other managers do as well. It's the result of the lineup really struggling

Re: Ten Games Since Lineup Shakeup
Over the last 30 games, so 20 before the lineup change and 10 after the lineup change the Cardinals are:
Dead last in team OPS at .612
Dead last in team AVG at .218
2nd to last in HR's with 19
2nd to last in OBP at .287
Dead last in SLG at .325
It's not just since the lineup changes guys, this lineup has SUCKED for well over a month now.

This team is terrible...can't hit and when they do the bullpen blows it anyways...they have lost any mojo they once had...

Perfect summary of the downfall. Mojo is completely gone and THAT I agree lies with the manager. It's like the entire team just died.
What I don't think matters one bit are the lineup changes. When nobody on the freaking team can hit, it does not matter one bit what spot in the order they are hitting. The entire team is in a massive slump.

This will likely be ignored. The need to blame the manager is too strong.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2026 17:37 pm They scored 32 runs in the 10 games prior to the lineup changes.

Gonna have to show your work on the "one more AB per game hitting 2nd"TopofthePerch wrote: ↑01 Aug 2026 18:14 pm Walker has the most hits on the team an this gets him an extra at bat per game. JJW - 3.9 ABs per game this year. 4.5 PA
JW - 4.2 ABs per game this year. 4.45 PA
JJW has 11 more walks than JW.
Basically, their leadoff hitter and cleanup hitter average the same ABs per game.
This isn't even discussing the fact that #2:is going to have less RBI opportunities on the current team.
Twist it any way you want, there is zero justification to move the MLB RBI leaders out of the best RBI position on that team.
