Jordan Walker

Post by swatski »

I am starting to believe he’s either (upset) at JJ’s contract or he’s pressing to prove he’s worthy of such a contract. He looks so detached now.

Going 4-11 as a team will do that to you.

I don't know if his mental approach has changed from being moved to 2nd in batting order, or if he's in the honeymoon phase from the All Star game.

I would guess that Tinker toy Oli has messed him up by moving him to second in the order. Let's see, let's move the league leading RBI guy to the second hole and move our DH/catcher who is not hitting a lick to the 4 hole. Makes perfect sense to no one! Typical Oli

Firstly, he's pressing. It's easy to see. Secondly, if you're the opposing pitcher would you give him anything to hit? I mean look at the lineup that's around him. Most teams will probably tell their pitchers "Don't let Walker beat you." Make some other schlub do it.

Yep! The guy has NO FREAKING CLUE about managing a game or putting together a competent lineup.

The guy tried to hit Goldy (our run producing, MVP) in the 2 hole as a tablesetter for LARS NOOTBAAR, fpr how many seasons???

The guy hits Masyn Winn CLEANUP.

You literally can't make this stuff up.

And.for those who want to say lineups really don't matter.....yes, yes they do! You have to put players in positions to succeed and utilize their skill set. He does none of that. EVER.

Lol. JW can't hit because he's been hitting in the 2 hole?

Laughably pathetic reach

He only is guaranteed to hit second the first inning

Last 30; games: 252/342/430/672

Last 15 games: 193/258/263/521

Last 7 games (batting 2nd the last 8 games) 160/222/200/422

Yeah...it's hitting second...

Maybe, just maybe...he's not that good

Players can get on a roll for 60 games. Seems like he did just that and now the real JW is showing up.

Last 2 months with an OPS below 800. Has nothing to do with batting in the 2 hole. Been falling for awhile.

I definitely agree that it’s a big reach to say that he’s struggling due to hitting 2nd or because he competed in the home run derby. Like you say, he has been not very good for awhile now.

I’m not sure he’s because he just isn’t good, though. To me, though, there’s always going to be that fear that’s what it actually is every time he struggles for an extended period. Probably from the team’s perspective as well. It’s just the way that years past turned out, I can’t rule it out. He’s failed more often than he’s been really good.

But I’m still holding out hope for him. It’s a long season. He’s still young, so he’s got time to become more consistent and able to perform the way he is capable for a full year. Then again, I’ve said that about a lot of outfielders over the last near decade, so who knows.

We are watching a young superstar going through growing pains. Has nothing to do with where he is in the order. He’s adjusted before, he will again. It is painful to watch. Be patient with this asset. It’s Major League Baseball.

I can accept that, I just laugh that batting order causes hitting indegestion when he was struggling prior to..

Mostly agree. But utilizing your best run producer as a tablesetter is malpractice. That is the bigger issue.

I think those blowing off the lineup change are sorely mistaken. There is evidence Walker is not a fan of change. The batting adjustments the team wanted him to make was a tough transition. So why wouldn't a lineup switch also be tough? Especially when it makes very little sense. Gee, we have a guy leading the league in rbi. I think we should move him to a spot that diminishes his opportunities! That is the dumb[ash] management of one oliver f. marmol. What a pud

I mean it’s so obvious why you wouldn’t move the MLB leading rbi player from cleanup to 2nd in a lineup but what has Oli said is the reason that he did it?
