I don't like the return. We have center depth now with McTavish, Dvo, and Suter competing for 2C and 3C. Suter is too good to put on the 4th line. I guess it could work if you move McTavish or Dvo to the wing. I think we can get more for Binner at the deadline.

Uh, the Devils wouldn't trade Mercer for Binnington straight up LOL.
If they would do that, the Blues would make that trade yesterday.
Mercer would immediately be the Blues 2RW and solve a huge roster issue.

Yeah a lot of folks are overestimating what Binnington would bring back in a trade.UMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 17:25 pm Uh, the Devils wouldn't trade Mercer for Binnington straight up LOL.

Maybe but not overestimating what the Blues would need to get for him. He’s probably more valuable to the Blues right now than what any team would give for him as he and Hofer make a very strong duo in goal and if they trade him, they are going out to the trash heap to find a backup goalie who won’t be better than Binner. Thus the team is worse.bluetunehead wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 19:35 pmYeah a lot of folks are overestimating what Binnington would bring back in a trade.UMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 17:25 pm Uh, the Devils wouldn't trade Mercer for Binnington straight up LOL.

Re: Trade board post binnington for mercer and daws or allen
I would move Binnington plus for Mercer and Daws.
Question is what is the plus. Are you willing to send Carbonneau?
That's what it would take in my mind. Mercer has played five seasons. Played 82 games in each season. And scored 20+ goals in each season. But only hit 50+ points once. Is 24. RFA next season. In a lot of ways he's what you hope Carbonneau becomes. Plus Mercer plays PK so he adds that element.
Holloway Thomas Snuggerud
McMichael Mctavish Mercer
Neighbours Dvorsky Buch
Johnston Suter Torpchenko
Berggren Finley
Now that's looking like something.
I would have to think long and hard about it. It all depends on what people think Carbonneau will actually be. Is he a consistent goal scorer like Mercer and a full on 200' player?

Everyone talks of trading JB then everyone talks of how little they can get for him.
I've said all along the Blues would not move him this year he has more value here and for good reason.

Binny holds more value to the blues.
With no trust in those that have been drafted and management worried more about goals being scored on them, then scoring goals. Veteran play is valued.
