Year after year we always think they are 'in it'
Always just competitive enough to stay close to a WC spot, but always fail.
Don't be fooled Bloom, this team is not ready for postseason.
Sell off, May, Stanek, Noot, JoJo and one of Pages/Crooks.

Before the season started 99% of people thought they didn’t have a chance. They have played over most people’s expectations.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 10:11 am Always just competitive enough to stay close to a WC spot, but always fail.

Re: Year after year we always think they are 'in it'
I think they are trying, the question is are there any buyers who will give you anything of value? We shall see. The guys teams want are the guys you won't trade. I know they would trade May, and I hope they can get something, but Noot? Who wants him..... JoJo has value and it is too bad he went on the IL right before the deadline. But he will be back for a stretch run for someone so maybe he has some value. I am not sure Pages or Crooks will net you much.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 10:11 am Always just competitive enough to stay close to a WC spot, but always fail.

$98 million dollar payroll was a plan to fail from the beginning my dude. And they're planning to do this for years.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 10:11 am Always just competitive enough to stay close to a WC spot, but always fail.

Agree, they exceeded expectations the first half, 2nd half is looking like dogshite. Walker looks to have returned to Earth, and the team along with him. Wonder if that derby really did F with him.

First he won 1M. Second his name became household; over night. Maybe they pitch him different. Maybe he hits better with runners on base from the four hole.
I’m thinking the lack of rest, much ado, maybe it was or has been a whirlwind experience, and he/ we can’t or couldn’t handle it either.

Good point! And they call this a "rebuild" year after year. These are strictly financial decisions and have nothing to do with putting a quality product on the field. Yea now let's "trade" any and all players who will make normal and up salaries. Talk about a dog chasing its tail. You're being bullshited my friends.CCard wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 10:36 am$98 million dollar payroll was a plan to fail from the beginning my dude. That's why BDWJr fired (okay, let resign
That starts w/paring payroll (re: moving on from aging veterans and their contracts), re-tooling the minor league system w/the latest technology & more coaches, drafting, trading for & developing some internal true talent and finally upping the payroll back to competitive levels that allows Bloom to fill in the missing pieces from outside the organization.
Those you listed, along w/RO'B, should all be traded by Monday..............I hope!

The brighter porch lights here have said that all season.
So, effectively, did our GM.
Obviously. Something else I may have mentioned somewhere.Walker looks to have returned to Earth, and the team along with him. Wonder if that derby really did F with him.

Bloom could not have been more transparent about the goals for this season. Anyone acting fooled wasn’t paying attention.

Re: Year after year we always think they are 'in it'
Good points, but if we're thinking trades are to make the team better, we miss an important point. These are yearly salary dumps, which will save young Crooks. Sorry, but no rebuilds exists in the STL system. Hope the owners sell the team, STL deserves much more!bccardsfan wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 10:18 amI think they are trying, the question is are there any buyers who will give you anything of value?
