Re: Walker- Over/Under Home Runs
Whole team is a funk. Only 22 HRs hit in the month of July. They are dead last in baseball in SLG% this month with a .334 SLG%. Last in fWAR for the month as well among position players with a 0.3 fWAR this month.

What does this funk lean to- just not good enough players, or pitching.

Not good enough or deep enough of a lineup. They were basically 4 hitters and 3 of those have been in a funk. The other one (burly) has hit a alright but he’s homerless since July 8th and has 2 HRs this month in total. And beyond those 4 hitters, nobody on the team has stepped up. Noot has been awful, Winn hasn’t been good, Velazquez is a whiff machine, Blaze Jordan hasn’t been good. Church has been awful, etc. etc.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 11:07 amWhat does this funk lean to- just not good enough players, or pitching.

So. Basically many farm hands didn’t or havent panned out- church Fermin noot Jordan, thus allowing opposition to avoid our top four, and attack our bottom five. In a weird math way, that gives us 3 innings with the he top four, and five plus, for the duds.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 11:10 amNot good enough or deep enough of a lineup. We don’t score in those three innings, we don’t score.

Re: Walker- Over/Under Home Runs
This. And the explanation of trying to get Ivan out of his slump by trading places with Walker, made no sense to me whatsoever, from Oli. Maybe Walk was in a minor slump as well, but he has had those throughout the year, and has shown he rebounded out of those slumps. Put Ivan at number 3 or 5, but why he would decide to move Walks to 2, is just really a head shaking move. Let's throw the baby out with the bathwater, or, the old hey, nothing is broke here so let's try to fix it mindset takes over. JMO

The better move was to just leave Walker and put Ivan 5th. Might have helped both of them.zuck698 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 11:59 amThis. Over if he’s moved back to hitting 4 or 3 against LH within the next week. Under if he stays at 2.
After all 100% of the game is 50% mental or whatever Yogi said.

Re: Walker- Over/Under Home Runs
If he continues hitting 2nd, he'll hit 4 more for the season.
If he gets moved back to the 4 spot, he'll bat more often with runners on , see pitches to hit, and will snap out of the slump.

Re: Walker- Over/Under Home Runs
I say over. I think he'll hit over 30 home runs this year but, he will have a time driving in 100 now that Oli "the brain" Marmol moved him up to the 2 hole. Our 8th and 9th hitters usually carry about a .250 OBP so with them hitting in front of him most of the game his chances go way down.
