But what if Walker was out there? He might not catch that ball.
One can argue that Noot saved a double and the run would have scored anyway. So he actually saved the run because the next guy up got hit and that would’ve scored the guy that just hit the pretend double.
Then JJ put him back on top two to one with the home run.
I could blame Pallante for walking the batter that eventually scored to tie again.
I could blame Soriano for giving up that run that tied the game.
I could blame numerous players for not hitting with runners and scoring position. The last I looked, they were one for nine. I don’t know what they ended up with.

What if he didn't have heel surgery? Then he wouldn't have been on the field and wouldn't have caught that ball. Then he wouldn't have thought there were 2 outs. Then he wouldn't have panicked and missed the cutoff man. Then we wouldn't be attacking the Noot. It is basically the surgeon's fault we lost yesterday. We should be thanking Noot for even getting to that ball.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 09:32 amI have another what if. Baez doesn't have to be ready. You let Torres man left field the rest of the season because he's both earned the opportunity and he has a chance to stick around for several more years on the cheap. Nootbaar is what he is; a marginal and oft injured player with no future here.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 08:07 am I'm not so sure that they do trade Nootbaar. I'm cool with that, but that still doesn't mean that I think they should get rid of Noot just to be rid of him. I'm sure they have a value that they have for him and I hope they hold off trading him until they get as close to that value or more for him.ShakeyWalton wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 10:18 amBaez doesn't have to be ready. Re: Nootbaar last game at Busch was a beauty
Counting on him to build trade value is a fool's errand. Bloom should get what he can get for Nootbaar. He is what he is -- with a bat too weak to be a corner OF and a glove too weak to be a CF. He has no future here. Or should have. Keeping Nootbaar around another year would be a vintage Mo move.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 10:24 amI'm cool with that, but that still doesn't mean that I think they should get rid of Noot just to be rid of him. But we can't deny that the trade rumors have any impact on real human players when on the field, especially for the ones who might be traded any minute. They aren't robots. I've seen the same thing in previous companies where moral drops before layoffs, mistakes increase. It is a thing with actual people.
Whether we keep Noot or not, we should all hate this time of year.

The Stros seem to be interested in him. I checked out curiosity and the Cards are 301-271 when Nootbar plays. That's a .526 clip during down years for the team.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑31 Jul 2026 16:23 pmYes, he made a mental error.
