Anyone here have access to BTV trade values?

Post by zoiks »

I’m wondering what the BTV trade values are for these Dodgers CF prospects:
Eduardo Quintero
Mike Sirota
Charles Davalan

And then also the BTV trade values for these players the Cardinals might trade:
Dustin May
Lars Nootbaar
Iván Herrera
Riley O’Brien
Ryne Stanek

I’d really like to move May, Noot, and a bullpen arm if needed for 1 of the 3 Dodgers CF prospects.

Just the last I've seen, May at +5.7 but will go up a little more with his last good start.
Herrera at +15.8, O'Brien at +7.8, Noot at +4.4 but has probably gone down some lately. Stanek at -0.2 I saw yesterday.
Pages at +3.3.
If you go to the BTV site, even if not subscribed like me, and click on trade boards, they have proposed trades that will have those players involved with their BTV's.
During the course of a day, many different ones come up, but with few Card proposals on there. Quintero's been on there before, but don't recall what his BTV was. Also, BTV's can be very fluid.

Eeek. IH is the only one worth moving, you’ll most likely get someone solid. The others give me a break. Might as well keep O’Brien he’s controlled. Might May take a 1 year extension so ?

The Cardinals do have an option for May in 2027. May has option to opt out and test free agency.

I think the Cardinals still have ability to give him a qualifying offer and get a compensation round pick if he signs a big enough contract

Could all change with the new CBA. But who knows

Anyway, reading May is not the only outcome that works at the deadline. Though you probably get best value if you do.

Cards will not make a May a qualifying offer...that would be like $28 million dollars

Zero chance that happens
Say,...

- 90% chance May is traded at the deadline
- If not, 99% chance Cardinals take the option
- Then, 90% chance May opts out and enters free agency despite his appreciation of his experience here
- I'd say 70% the Cardinals give him a QO. Bloom is less risk adverse than Mo. He wants the draft pick. it's not like they'll have a huge payroll in 2027 either
- 15% chance May takes the QO, 85% he's a FA
- 5% chance the Cardinals sign him to a 3 year deal

Basically, ... UNeverKnow. But, ... you know.

The qualifying offer is projected to increase from $22.025M to $23.1M, not $28M, for the 2027 season.

The mutual option is for $20M, so if the Cardinals exercise their part of that option and May declines I would not be shocked at all if the Cardinals gave him a QO.

I still think it's more likely he's traded, but I would have no problem with May for one year at $23M or an extra draft pick if we don't get a good offer for him.

Yeah, pretty much this. I might move the 90% he's traded down a bit, and the 15% chance he accepts a one year, $23M deal up a bit (and then become a FA with nothing tied to him a year later, these have been accepted a lot more recently), but these are all in the ballpark.

I'll stick to ZERO chance RU although your logic is sound

I just don't see BDWJr taking that kind of risk

May seems to really like it here, he could easily accept and hit the market after 2027

And what's wrong with that? If we're willing to exercise our part of the option ($20M), then why wouldn't they be willing to have him accept the QO at $23.1M?

I still think there's a decent chance we have a salary floor in 2027 and having May on a short term deal would be a good way to get to that floor without having to spend like drunken sailors on shore leave. Seems like it would be a good signing until we can figure out better ways to spend payroll (cap space) in the short to medium term.

And I'll also say ZERO chance BDWJr okays exercising the Cardinals half of the option, May certainly would not.

I realize I'm leaving absolutely no wiggle room here but I think I have a pretty solid read on Dewitt and his plan.

He's in total payroll shedding mode until he see's what that new CBA brings.

And that doesn't even take into account the potential injury risk there is w/May.

They escaped that this season, do you really see Dewitt pushing his luck at $23M?

I really like May, certainly won't break my heart if you guys are right.

I just don't see it.

And this fun exercise is all for nought', 99.9% he's going to be traded.

I think DeWitt at least has some insight into how the CBA negotiations are going. I think they know they will have to spend soon whether there is a floor or not, or they risk becoming the Reds, Guardians, etc. They need to give fans a reason to come back or they might risk losing them for good. This is the third straight year with significantly lower attendance, but it's at least a young team that is now ascending. I hope the DeWitts are smart enough to see that, but recent years don't make me feel certain that they do.

I still think it's more likely he's traded, but I would have no problem with May for one year at $23M or an extra draft pick if we don't get a good offer for him.
No. He gone. No QO for the oft injured May..
I think it's likely he's gone, at the deadline, as well. But if he's still here Monday night, I think it's a very high chance he gets a QO. I guess we'll have to wait and see (if he's not traded).

I don't think anyone does rbis, too many variables and moving parts for anyone to have a handle on where it's going.

(And I'll also stick w/my opinion on this too, the MLBPA will NEVER accept a salary cap.........even though we all wish they would)

And (IMO) he's not okaying that kind of a deal until he does know for certain.

You're preaching to the choir about attendance, I've had season tixs for over a decade and know well what's been happening.

I'm on record in here saying he needs to up the payroll by $100M after the new CBA is in place.

Won't happen, it should.

I hope you're right since as stated, I like May.

Just not going to happen.

He could (will?) be traded at any moment between now and Mon afternoon.
