-The UFL will leave Birmingham and Houston and add two new markets in 2027.
-The league plans to expand to 10 teams by 2028, including Oklahoma City.
-Officials said the move is part of a long-term strategy to grow spring football.
What's next:
The UFL said two replacement markets will be announced for the 2027 season. The league also plans to grow to 10 teams by 2028, including the addition of a franchise in Oklahoma City, and is targeting a 12-team league by 2030.
Targeted and Ramped-Up Markets UFL leadership (including co-owner Mike Repole) has actively evaluated or named several prospective locations in the mix for upcoming alignment and future expansion waves:
-New England / Hartford: Mentioned as a target region to capture northeast media and fan bases.
-Austin, Texas: Frequently cited as a booming football market without direct NFL local presence.
-The Carolinas (Raleigh, Charleston, Greenville): Highlighted by ownership as high-interest areas in the Southeast.
-Queens, New York: Kept on the radar for a major media market presence.
-Western and Mountain Regions (Boise, Utah, New Mexico/Albuquerque): Evaluated as part of long-term geographical footprint growth into the West
The Queens Kings? Come on UFL, make it happen! :P

The Kings of Queens would be cool.

It’s nice to hear they’re planning on expansion I guess. The UFL always seems to be on the brink. Obviously, Covid was a huge problem for a fledgling league like XFL. Then you have the merger. Some teams stayed others didn’t. Since then, I can’t even keep track of how many teams have relocated. But as long as it’s going, we always have a team.
