Re: Quinn Mathews getting the call?
I thought the same but they could easily bullpen game him and let him travel. I could also see Leahy needing to be spaced out since he’s converted. Give him an extra day and let Mathews start and figure out the may and Libby as we gocraviduce wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 13:48 pm He could be getting the call up, I just find it odd to put him on 9-11 days rest...I can't remember his exact last start. But isn't that pitcher malpractice? That much rest between starts, when they don't need to be skipped?
These guys are creatures of habit...mental taboo to mess with that.
I don't think he's taking May's spot in the rotation, he very well could be taking May's spot on the 40 man.
Mathews could be pitching well before May's next go in the rotation

Could come up for a start. Extra days rest for starters. Then May is traded. If May not traded. He starts Tuesday

I wonder if Bloom will trade more than one starter…

Yea, him and Leahy both could. No idea what to make of them or where they fit into the plan. Pallante’s past seems to be good every other year.11WSChamps wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 16:31 pmMy guess Pallante will draw some interest.
Fior a team that can score runs he makes a very competitive number three starter.
2026: 3.72 ERA
2025: 5.31 ERA
2024: 3.78 ERA
2023: 4.76 ERA
2022: 3.17 ERA

Because of the team control factor and because I believe Leahy has a higher ceiling I'm hoping they refrain from moving him unless of course they are overwhelmed with an offer.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 16:35 pmYea, him and Leahy both could. - Libby will be put into the bullpen after Jo Jo, Stanek and O'Brien are also traded.
- Mathews will get called up and start
- Dobbins will start
Avert your eyes from the bullpen for the rest of 2026
Pages and Stanek will get traded for high octane bullpen arms with current control issues. But setting up for the 2027 bullpen.
At least one, maybe 2 other bigger deals will be made for the Cardinals. 3B, OF, Starting pitcher prospects heading this way if both are made.
Don't get too attached to Herrera. Embrace Crooks and Bernal as your catchers...
... or nothing will happen and we wait til off season and a CBA to trade.
Stay tuned

LOL...They dropped this tidbit and I had to chuckle.
The St. Louis rotation has managed to stay healthy all year.

quinn matthews has tp be added to 40 man roster this offseason anyway so adding him now wouldnt really mess up anything 40 man wise from adding too early.
