What I see is an unbalanced team more and more each day. The winning formula for years was a balance of vets, rookies and in-betweens. Personally I think it has been a salary dump for several years now, and it's getting old!

What I see is an unbalanced team more and more each day. The winning formula for years was a balance of vets, rookies and in-betweens. Personally I think it has been a salary dump for several years now, and it's getting old!

I have to respectfully disagree. Fans need to understand what moment we are in. This team is not trying to win the world series every single year right now or for 2027. They have stated as much without stating that directly. They are not going to go out and make big trades for big players and over pay nor are they going to sign free agent deals or take on big money deals until after the 2027 lockout has worked itself out. You have to separate what the previous general manager did and what his style was from what we have now. This team is in an evaluation phase. They are figuring out who amongst the homegrown talent has long-term value. You can't do that if you have expensive free agents blocking the way. We suffered under that mentality for years already. Now the young guys get to play as a fan you just need to accept that 2026 and 2027 are going to be evaluation years.

That's a common statement, but almost never holds true. The problem isn't the deadline, it's the waiting. The flip side of the coin is when people say, that would be better as an offseason move. Usually not. The problem is in the waiting.

Jo Jo is as much of a known quantity as most any RP
in baseball. The appendix has actually been a rest for his
arm vs surpassing a career high mark in IP.

This is the STL Cardinals, not some AAA team where you evaluate. Who they traded in the last 2-3 years, along with some upcoming young talent, would have been a winning team. How many salary dumps do we witness before calling this for what it is! HORRIBLE owners that feed their fans a heaping platter of [nonsense]. To think what could have been...trading ALL OF OUR proven veterans for years for 50 prospects, like throwing s))t against the wall to see what sticks. Not impressed Bloom and DeWittless.

It is a step-by-step process as I see it. They are trying to get core pieces in place position by position. When you had teams with the guys like a Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen you had locked in players at positions that you knew you did not have to worry about. You could start plugging other holes and figure out the best guy for those positions. That is what they are doing now unfortunately we just don't have those stars in place yet. Right now you can say we have one in the making at second base with weather Holt because he's the one that just got the contract extension. But every other position is still being worked out by the next guy that comes along to claim it. But I think we all understand that it's not going to be the rest of this season nor probably 2027 because of the lockout that we are going to see any more locked in positions at this time. After that I think they may look at guys like Walker and win and determine if they are long-term locked up players.

We traded away our star vets to see if we can find someone, as good as who we traded? That is an ill-fated strategy and plan. Believe what you want, but this is nothing but a financial matter known as a salary dump. I still think this team will be sold.
