Sound about right to me. Victor scott would make an excellent late inning defensive replacement and pinch runner. May as well call him up when Noot packs his belongings

Pretty sure that if Noot is traded they will call up Baez from AAA and start him every day.

If you trade Noot, there is zero reason not to bring up Baez.

IF they call up Baez at all, I think they will wait 2-3 weeks and preserve his rookie status. I'm not convinced that they will call him up. They probably would like to take another look at Victor Scott II, but he just hasn't given them any reason to.
Taking a look at these guys may give them clarity on putting together the 40 man roster over the winter. Do they even want Torres, Velazquez, and Scott on it?

No.
Think: if Joshua Baez is called up before about Aug 15, he loses rookie status for next year. Why?
Wait til then, lose about two weeks of MLB playing time this year, but still have six weeks to play him. And keep his rookie status.
A little forethought, please.

I also agree. I do not think we see Baez until September call ups if at all. He is still striking out too much and triple A and although that is not that is qualifier in my book that a lot think it is. It is still probably too much because he's not going to be able to balance the hard hit balls with all the strikeouts. That can be detrimental to the development of a young player. Not to mention the fact not only will he probably struggle he will be losing his rookie status. At this point on a team that is not going to make the playoffs it would be ill advised to damage one of your best possible prospects that way. It just doesn't benefit anybody. They will most likely do a platoon of players or call up some other nondescript player not name Baez that they want to see if they have potential or should be let go in the off season.okcardfan wrote: β30 Jul 2026 12:34 pmNo.

I think Velazquez should be shopped too, maybe you can get a random reliever from a team that wants a RH depth bat.

I've always felt Baez gets the call if/when Noot is dealt but wonder now if they keep him on the farm until the traditional September callups?
And h e l l no to brining back VSII (Memphis: .202 .281 .298 .579) who definitely NOT earned a callup.

Re: Platoon Torres/Velasquez in LF after Noot trade until Baez is ready?
The reason would be to wait 2 weeks or so to preserve Rookie status for Baez into 2027, with potential draft pick implications. But after that by all means, let him play his 40 games in Aug/Sept.hornetfb52 wrote: β30 Jul 2026 12:20 pm If you trade Noot, there is zero reason not to bring up Baez.

But does Noot even get traded? He's not a FA, so offseason is just as likely, unless BDW REALLY needs the cash savings of 2 months of salary.brucesutterHOF wrote: β30 Jul 2026 12:14 pm Sound about right to me. There may not be much of an offseason though with the lockout expected.Carp4Cy wrote: β30 Jul 2026 13:06 pmBut does Noot even get traded? but if so, we wouldn't have to pay Noot until the LO ends. So still not a financial liability beyond Sept 30th.Futuregm2 wrote: β30 Jul 2026 13:07 pmThere may not be much of an offseason though with the lockout expected.Carp4Cy wrote: β30 Jul 2026 13:06 pmBut does Noot even get traded?
