LOL...back of the Kool-aid dude. They haven't won a thing and I don't see a bright future yet either. I don't give a rat's #$$ about developing players that are years away. I want a competitive team in St Louis now.
The team hasn’t won anything meaningful in the past 10 years, so the plan is clearly to go through a rebuild, whether we like it or not. The Cardinals have said as much, and I, along with many others on this forum, am aligned with that direction.

Constantly complaining about the overall direction isn’t going to change the situation. At this point, the best approach is to give the young players opportunities and hope the organization executes the plan properly. I and many others on the CT are in agreement with the direction.

LOL...rebuilds have been going on for decades in Cincy and Pitt. Look where it's gotten them. I guess we should all be simpering little sheep licking the ownership boots like you.

You do realize all of the successful teams have great development systems and the reason the cardinals haven’t had competitive teams because mo tanked the development system for a win now in St. Louis right? So you are advocating for a tried and failed and proven disastrous strategy
Yeah, that's right. Blame Mo. Ownership signs the checks don't they? Successful teams buy premium talent and then supplement with a few up and coming minor league talents. They don't wade through years of garbage teams hoping to one day have it all come together magically. When this "rebuild" doesn't work out I suppose they'll have to fire Bloom and hire another axe-man to "rebuild". But you go ahead and blame MO for all the problems.

We will see you in 2028. The rest of 2026 and next year won’t be much fun for the “win now” folks. I’m having a great time watching this process.

No way you hit on eight position players and five good starting pitchers all coming through the ranks at relatively the same time to form a perineal winner. Nor can most teams buy and trade for talent like the Dodgers.

So where is the sweet spot? I'd say home-growing 6 position players and adding two from outside via trade or free agency. And filling out 3/5 of the rotation from the system. Again, adding two from outside the organization.

The Braves figured it out. The Rays rebuild every year, and after two subpar seasons, they have the best record in the AL. See how cherry picking goes both ways?
We could also do this the other way. The Padres and Mets have been all in with huge payrolls and haven't won anything. The Yankees haven't won a WS since 2009. You can find teams to fill any narrative you want.

You have been talking about how great the Brewers are. You know they rebuilt to get to where they are now, right?

Pretty close.

Of the 15 "high value" positions on the roster (nine position players/DH, 5 SP, closer), ~10 of them need to be filled by cost controlled players (pre-ARB, ARB, or like Wetherholt signed early to below full market value long term contracts). The other ~5 can be filled by a range of full market value FAs.

Of the 11 "lower value positions on the roster (bench players, non-closer RPs), ~8 of them need to be filled by cost controlled players. The other ~3 can be filled by a range of full market value FAs.

Some people insist on comparisons to the Pirates, Reds, etc. and ignore the Astros (2011-2014), Braves (2015-2017), Phillies (2013-2017), etc.

They aren't the powerhouse you think they are. They get to feast on the NL Central. But they have made some great trades and acquisitions over the last handful of years. Since 2018 they've basically been a playoff team. They haven't been the prime example of a tanking team but even though they've made it to the playoffs some in their fan base have stated that they aren't serious about winning and won't put out the extra money to win it all. Their playoff history is full of suckage.

Again, for the learning impaired, what have they won? Yes, the Padres and the Mets spend money and have under-achieved. That does happen. Yet if you look through the history of baseball you'll see a common thread. Those that spend for top talent win, much more often. Cherry picking? Hardly.

That would be a change for you since you usually are the one doing the sucking. Now, go back to your groveling and boot licking.
